World Oceans Day is an opportunity to raise global awareness of the benefits humans get from the ocean and our individual and collective duty to use its resources sustainably. It is also a chance to celebrate and appreciate what the ocean provides, from the oxygen we breathe to the inspiration it provides artists.

Oceans cover more than 70% of the planet, produce at least 50% of the world's oxygen, are home to most of the Earth's biodiversity and are the main source of protein for more than a billion people. They also absorb about 30% of carbon dioxide produced by humans - a buffer for the detrimental impacts of global warming.

Our partners Orca Sound Project Orca Sound Project is an accesible, solutions based organisation focused on tackling the global plastic waste crises. They engage audiences to become actively involved within sustainability and drive communities to think  about how they use plastic now and how it can be used in the future.

Bambuu Brush are a multi-award winning eco-friendly company striving to change the world using social media in a positive way to educate, inspire and empower people that we can all make simple changes away from plastic to more sustainable products.

This collaboration supports the fundraising strategy for charity projects in the developing world to combat plastic waste, and we are proud to share with you a sustainability festival pack from ELEMENTS to help you cut your plastic use whilst at events. Adrian Flavor and Samy Jackson aka Animal Trainer present the next fantastic summer refresher exclusively here on Schirmchendrink: the Mezcal Mule!

The dynamic duo has become one of the hottest properties on the international circuit and represent the epitome of what Switzerland’s new generation of electronic artists has to offer.

Raised in a city with arguably the strongest club scene in Switzerland, Zurich, Animal Trainer made their name through a series of parties called ‘Rakete’, which still take place at the infamous Hive club. 

In 2008 Animal Trainer dropped their first release, ‘Talkshow’, which was followed by releases with some of the industry’s most influential labels; Defected, Poker Flat, mobilee, Einmusika, Katermukke and their own highly-regarded Hive Audio label among them. 

2013 saw the release of Adrian and Samy’s debut full-length album, titled ‘Wide’. Spread across 13 tracks, the LP demonstrated their maturity as artists, focusing on the dance floor, but also incorporating down-tempo cuts and collaborations with vocalists such as Jan Blomqvist and Jimi Jules. It was a resounding success, with widespread praise and leading publications such as Groove Magazine and Data Transmission weighing in with glowing reviews.

With each new release Animal Trainer push the boundaries of their sound, introducing subtle nuances, unforgettable hooks, emotive rhythms or enchanting melodies while retaining their own individual groove to keep the dance floor bubbling. 

In the years since their first release Animal Trainer have maintained a constant focus on high quality club music, staying relevant when others have followed the hype, and evolving into a force to be reckoned with. They are party boys who take their music very seriously, but are never serious themselves – it’s a winning combination that has kept them one step ahead and on a constant upwards trajectory. Whatever they do next you can be sure that it will be something special...so is this Mezcal Mule, by the way.

Flow Sessions 070 - Super Flu

Words can't describe yet another sunrise of epic proportions this time at the C.A.M.P. (Calling all Magical People) co-created gathering. Right at the beginning of my DJ set at 4:30 am on July 4th (US Independence Day) the cops showed up to try to shut the party down due to noise complaints.

I had the difficult task of keeping the decibel levels under a certain threshold, so I had to nurture a huge dance floor for the closing set of the festival until 7am somewhat quietly until we were able to ramp up the volume to proper dance floor levels.

I am not sure if it was that we all wanted this so badly, or the majestic rays of sunshine coming down upon us, all I know is that 17 encore songs & tracks after the supposedly closing "Lovely Day" song, we kept raving and raging until we almost dropped.

One of the most memorable mornings in my 21 years of DJ'ing. Here's the recording of the full 4.5 hrs of the closing sunrise DJ set. I hope it takes you all back and for those of you who weren't there I hope it brings you the sunrise  joy and magic we collectively had.

What an incredible night! I was invited back to play a set for one of my favourite Burning Man crews, the Salty Jacks, at their annual fundraiser on June 3, 2023. For those of you counting, yes, it was my three-peat! The Jacks found us an incredible space in Chinatown, where we all got dressed up in our disco best and had a wild night of dancing and good vibes! I joined a lineup of fantastic DJs, including friends and frequent collaborators Von Davis and Jess + Nate Mordo, as well as GAL and SumDim! And to top it all off, this night kicked off my birthday week. 44 never felt so good! 

Here's my set from Salty54! Dedicated to the amazing Salty Jacks fam and all their love, support, enthusiasm, and dancefloor energy!
