"My very dear friend Niki Sadeki asked for a podcast for Deep House Vancouver quite a while ago, but I was always busy and after we finally found a date I delayed it again and again :D I guess because she never gave me a proper deadline which I normally need to get started. Finally I managed to finish the mix which is a something in-between podcast and DJ set I would have played live. So the first part could stand alone but at some point I decided I want to keep going and brought up the energy again. I guess I’m more than ready to go back on stage. Hope to see you all soon! As a resident at Bar25, Kater Holzig and her current home of Kater Blau, Mira has been a defining proponent of a deeper, more soulful and organic kind of dance music. 
Her yearly birthday events at Kater Blau ‘Katzen Tanzen auf’m Tisch’ attract thousands of international visitors every year, and have hosted a multitude of previously unknown artists who have now gone on to tour the globe. 
In the studio and behind the decks, Mira often collaborates with her partner-in-crime Christopher Schwarzwälder, and the two of them have released a host of chart-topping singles. 
Mira has been at the top of her game for the past twenty years, continuously shaping the sounds around her, and never ceasing to push inspiring new artists. As happy playing at a small underground club in East Germany in the 90s as she is playing to thousands of festival-goers at Burning Man - Mira is one of those artists of whom you can truly say that she’s doing it for the love of the music.

Welcome back to the Magician On Duty Journey Series!

On this edition we welcome Deep Ghosh (@deep_schismic)

Deep (and yes, it really is his name) started his DJing journey in a sweaty club in Berlin back in 2017, where he witnessed his growing obsession for electronic music tip over from hobby to worthwhile passion. Since then, he has travelled to some of the dustiest and lushest corners of the globe from his hometown Melbourne to the beaches of Bali, from Black Rock City to the Tankwa Karoo of South Africa, from the mountains of Sinai to the Red Sea and beyond living out this passion. 

His musical selections are one of unabashed love of emotional, vocal melodies juxtaposition to the deeper end of the sonic spectrum, while showing the influences of his musical upbringing in rock music and pop culture as well as occasionally giving us peeks into the music of his ancestors.

While the world slowed down during the COVID-19 pandemic, Deep managed to stay engaged in his passion for music. Since 2020, he is one of the curators of the Flow Sessions long-format mix series. He is also co-organiser, curator and "rave engineer" of boutique gatherings such as UTOPIA Festival, as well as being involved in organizing Burner and underground gatherings in Berlin and Amsterdam (where he is based since 2020 in pursuit of his rather cosmic day job as a space engineer looking after climate monitoring satellite missions).

This mix really captures how I love to get lost in music, create emotional journeys and showcase some of my musical influences. It was one of those situations of being out in a magical corner of the world--on a boat, out on the turquoise waters of the Red Sea--with some of my nearest and dearest celebrating the birthday of a legendary woman, and opening the musical proceedings for a week of love laughter and riding the waves.
