They'd forgotten the path they'd trodden - the winding streets had formed a maze they could not conquer. Retracing their steps brought them no closer to an exit; every sign looked the same, every shop painted in the same faded colours - nothing set one apart from the next. It was a beautiful purgatory that felt both safe and uncertain all at once. Maybe they didn't mind being lost, at some point they would have to be found... 

In 2020 Malka Tuti should have been celebrating five years in the game with plenty of dates and special plans in the diary. The pandemic hit and they were forced to regroup and postpone their plans until this year, now marking their seventh anniversary as a label. To commemorate the date they've rallied friends and family for a sprawling compilation, Sheva, which features never-heard-before remixes and fresh tracks carefully curated over the last two years. Encompassing the heady, psychedelic sonics we've come to associate with the Malka Tuti world, the 12-track release features music from the likes of Red Axes, Nicola Cruz, Plazmot & Xen, Decha, Khidja and Manfredas, to name but a few.

This is an excerpt from a 9-channel sound installation which is based on an old German comedy song and was part of the Doofe Musik Festival (Stupid Music Festival)at HKW in Berlin, 8th - 11th of May 2014.
The 5 differently processed original tracks are endlessly shifting against each other and create a generative musical system which never repeats itself.

Manchester, Sprechen is one of those imprints whose core sonority turns its catalogue into a wealthy source for the ones in search of high-quality space-inspired gems. From Saturn-sunset Balearic deliciousness to Mars-dawn House Music furor, its collection fails to disappoint – and its forthcoming episode is another irrefutable proof: The acclaimed “Edgy Future Discotheque” VA-series reaches its sixth volume and showcases the aforementioned soundscapes. Coyote remixed by Massey, Popsneon, La Guardia De La Luz (with not one but two tracks on board), Mummy's Boy, and minimalArchiv jumped in hard with stunning cuts devoted to triggering zero gravity experiences on the dance floor.

The theme we hand-picked to premiere was cooked with love by maestro Chris Massey, the label honcho himself, who decided to give a go on Coyote's “Cami' De Sa Veleta”, originally released in 2021, and delivered an “emotion-filled blast of synth-tinged and sunshine-drenched amazingness”. Melodic leads, soothing percussive elements, and a roaring synth extravaganza create the perfect opening for the compilation.

What a story how this set came about…oooofff! SooooOOOooo… I was sitting there..barbecue sauce on my titties… HAHAHAHHAHAHA!

Jk, this is a legendary meme, had to pull it out one day. But let’s get to the actual story… I was planning on doing a set with Flo Dalton and we met to record it. Flo pulled up with some vegan "Poulet im Chörbli"-Crisps and I had the same Idea with some Aldi Fake-Pombär-Crisps (No-Product placement I swear, but if you don’t wanna pay with your life for some air and salt, those are your solution! It’s only bear heads, but a head can be enough in specific contexts I guess). I also brought some burnt momos, because of course I was late to the party and didn’t have time to finish my lunch. But guess what, Flo had to buy some last minute Lunch-Pretzel as well. With a mildly full stomach and a good laugh about us being „Hüener“ we started playing. We had fun recording for 1h 52mins already when suddenly Flo looks at me with that stare. Yes, exactly that one. „The recording didn’t work.“ I first thought he was joking until he put the fader down. So, after some serious crying and wiping off our tears with the crisps we hadn’t eaten, we decided to meet again the next day. But we both knew we were gonna be tired af, bc we were going to the club to enjoy Ric Piccolos set that night, which we did!
As the club night was coming to an end, we stayed for a moment with the crew to grab a good old „Feierabendbier“ and complain about having to get up early, as normal 9-5 people would do. Only we do that at 6:00am not pm, but yeah u get the drill. But because we are not normal, but super-mega-special and fun and great, we had a fantastic Idea: why don’t we ask Ric and the crew if they are up for a spontaneous after hour sesh and record it, so we don’t have to get up early tomorrow?
So Flo, Alayah, Riccardo and me ended up doing a b2b 2b 2b 2b and enjoyed every second of it. Thx to the 3fach Queen-Team we got the „ok" to air the whole 4h set as a "Sponti-Kegi-Family-After-Set" (sadly only with a small part of the fam, but who knows, maybe more is to come? #manmunkelt)

Und die Lehre der Geschicht: Seid verwirrt, kommt zu spät, bleibt lang wach, sonst klappt sowas nicht!

I hope you’ll shake ur asses listening to the set as we did when successfully recording it.

Stromstoss Residency (061): sryxo b2b ric piccolo, flo dalton, selossod

Whilst recently digitising my tape archive I came across this one from Geff/John Balance of Coil, with whom I frequently exchanged music. It features this one solitary track which I believe he gave me to play out at my Electronic Lounge club that I ran at the Institute of Contemporary Arts London in 1994.

The other side features remixes of the band Stabbing Westward tune 'Lies' but don't believe this has anything to do with Coil. I just think Geff was recycling a tape that was lying around in the studio. This seems to be an alternative mix of ELpH - Static Electrician, longer than the released version.

I share it with you out of respect to the memory of great people no longer with us, and ask that you don't try to profit by making money out of this. Gift culture can make others happy :-)

The conjectural wedding band OTTO is expanding its organ soundtrack madness. With their third record, they deliver sonic solutions for all sorts of moods (Stimmungen), ranging from dark and stormy to smooth and suave. If you forgot, OTTO is Alexander Arpeggio—who just released a 12‘‘ on Neubau and runs the labels Mond Musik and Eine Welt—and Cid Hohner—who compiled the “Heilige 3 Könige” album on Mond Musik and produces other projects such as C.Z.

Schneider TM is a multidimensional music project by Dirk Dresselhaus that oscillates extensively between experimental electronic avant-pop and rather abstract and improvisational material, occasionally bringing these and other seemingly opposing elements together.

Since the mid 90s he released albums on labels like City Slang / Mute, Bureau B, Editions Mego or Karlrecords under this moniker, including singles like ‘Reality Check’, ‘Frogtoise’ or a cover version of a song by The Smiths called ‘The Light 3000’, a collaboration with Kptmichigan that was hugely acclaimed by the alternative media (like John Peel, The Wire etc.) and have made him been credited as one of the main innovators of a music genre called Indietronica.

Solo or as group, Schneider TM has performed a couple of hundreds live concerts around the globe including renowned international festivals like CTM (Berlin), Sonar (Barcelona, Rome, Tokyo), Mutek (Montreal, Mexico City), Roskilde-Festival (DK), Hultsfred Festival (Hultsfred), Frieze Art Fair (London), Phonem Festival (Istanbul), Les Siestes Électroniques (Toulouse), Melt Festival (Gräfenhainichen), Midi Festival (Hyéres), Motomix Festival (Sao Paolo), Todaysart Festival (Den Haag), Dark Mofo (Hobart) and others.

Dirk Dresselhaus’ rather unusual musical methods like e.g. the combination of electroacoustic guitars with modular electronics have practically led him to explore unknown territory on each new release, solo or in diverse short- and long-term collaborations and projects with the likes of Ilpo Väisänen (die Angel, ex-Pan sonic), Zappi W Diermaier (Faust), Reinhold Friedl (zeitkratzer), Oren Ambarchi, Hildur Guðnadóttir, BJ Nilsen, Lucio Capece, Elena Poulou (ex-The Fall), Damo Suzuki (ex-Can), John Duncan (LAFMS), Conrad Schnitzler, Jochen Arbeit & Andrew Unruh (Einstürzende Neubauten) as well as to numerous works in the field of film music, radio plays, (performance-) theater, contemporary dance and general studio production.
