Camino de las flores a las 1:18 de la tarde un ‎miércoles, ‎5 ‎de ‎mayo ‎de ‎2021 (días antes del Global BigDay), buenos aires argentina. En esta grabación logramos captar un clima con mucho viento, ya estaba comenzando el otoño y lo que pudimos analizar es que habían muchas especies convergiendo en un ecosistema de humedales y pampa deprimida. "Camino de Las Flores" es uno de los dos últimos espacios verdes dentro del partido de Alte Brown. Conserva muestras de flora-fauna autóctonas y humedales. Tiene una superficie de 160 has, y se encuentra en el sector Oeste de la ciudad de Longchamps recalcando que está limitando con el Sector Industrial.

Logré capturar junto con mi grabadora y mis micrófonos binaurales el sonido de teros, pitogües (bienteveos), zorzales colorados, chimangos, perdices de campo, tordos músicos, cotorras, ratoneras, garzas blancas y entre otras especies. Pero al mismo tiempo se cruzaba un avión en el cielo mezclándose con los sonidos de este bello paisaje sonoro de la reserva. Miraba desde el cielo y al mismo tiempo cerraba mis ojos para entender cómo éstas especies se han adaptado a nuestros sistemas de comunicación y transporte. 
Siempre me hago la pregunta de ¿Qué tanto impacto producen estos elementos tecnológicos del humanx a estas especies? 

Con esto también me pregunto ¿Qué quieren comunicarnos con sus sonidos, qué tan altas o bajas son sus frecuencias
y como nosotrxs receptores captamos el mensaje que quieren llegar a quizás, darnos a conocer para poder entenderles. Más allá de sus formas de comunicación entre especies, también tienen mucho que "decir" y nosotros mucho por aprender... (((Escuchemos))).

During a severe wind storm, I revisited the yellow popular from this winter storm recording: https://soundcloud.com/acousticnature/tree-creaks-inside-an-oak

This time, I stuck a pair of EM272 microphones inside the tree cavity instead of putting my SASS in front of the opening. I mainly did this to protect the mics from the heavy rains that came during the night. 

I was really amazed at how well the tree insulated the mics from the outer world's sounds. Even the torrential downpour we received sounded like a gentle drizzle. 

When I popped the SD card into my computer the next morning, I was surprised that the popular made less noise than the previous recording, despite the increased wind speeds. 

I think this may have been due to 2 things: the warmer weather and deeper cracking along the the main trunk. I believe both these factors gave the tree more "wiggle-room" and caused less direct rubbing.

This recording is a compilation of 27 interesting clips throughout the night ranging in length from 3-111 seconds.

Paisaje sonoro bioacústico de aves en Costanera Sur - Buenos Aires 2020

The Forêt des Cedres (cedar forest) is one of the most unusual of the forests and green spaces of the Luberon massif, given the oriental origin of these large trees. At an altitude of 727 metres, the cedar forest was originally planted with seeds from the Algerian Middle Atlas, back in 1861.

Due to it's altitude and distance from major towns and roads, the forest is very quiet and makes for a perfect recording location. I arrived an hour before sunrise intending to record the spring dawn chorus. As I approached the entrance to the forest I heard a nightingale singing so I slowly approached, getting as close to the bird's song post without disturbing it. I setup my mics using the "tree ears" technique: spaced omnis with the tree trunk acting as a natural baffle.
