During the 2021 winter, I spent 170 hours (not a typo) recording, editing, and mixing one song “Blessed are the Joy Makers” in GarageBand. This was my 1st time ever using the software, because honestly, fear prevented me from using this app. I definitely had some technical issues as I took a deep dive into the unknown.  

For my entire life, there has been a real disconnect from what I hear in my head when I write a song and what I am able to convey through just my voice and acoustic guitar. I can’t read music and I don’t have the chops for the music I hear in my silly brain. The only real instrument on this recording is my voice. While nothing beats seasoned live musicians, and true engineers - this software is allowing me some real freedom to create. I feel like I’m 20 again. The possibilities....

Beyond the song...select images created by my favorite artist- my wife Kelly - has taken “Blessed are the Joy Makers” to another level. I think the imagery and the song are a beautiful combination and I am so grateful to be alive at this moment to be part of this collaboration. Many thanks to Kelly for the contribution of her art to the video. It is precious to us both.

LONG STORY SHORT:

Scooter Scudieri has been writing, recording, and performing original music for 30 years. His career highlights include opening for Joan Jett and the Blackhearts in 1989, arguing for artist rights on Capitol Hill during MGM vs Grokster, and touring as the opening act for Jewel on her “This Way” tour in 2002-2003. 

The Songwriters Hall of Fame awarded him “Best of the New Writers” in 2002 and he won the “Vox Populi” honor from The Independent Music Awards in 2008. Scooter's controversial "Mother of God" music video (shot guerrilla style across Los Angeles with Famed EZTV producer Michael Masucci) was archived at the Pompidou Museum in France for EZTV's 40th anniversary in 2019.

His pioneering lecture series “Capture Your Spirit, Keep Your Soul” helped pave the way for DIY artists interested in online marketing prior to the invention of iTunes. From 2000-2004, Scooter became a sort of poster boy for the internet garnering features in Billboard Magazine, The Boston Herald, Music Connection and more. After a long series of university lectures including Berklee College of Music, Tara Pepper of Newsweek said of Scooter: “You are on the forefront of an issue that’s here to stay.”

Scooter has performed on Mountain Stage, VH1, and has opened for more than 25 international acts including Jason Mraz, Dave Matthews, Nils Lofgren, Dream Theater, Blind Melon, Widespread Panic, NRBQ, Life Sex and Death, and The Samples.

He has recorded four solo albums and now records with his daughter Sophia Adara under the band name Flowers and Birds. He is currently releasing 50 original songs as “singles” over the next 5 years (2020-2025) on all digital platforms.
