Midland is a quiet and reserved character but one that always makes a big impact. Despite only being active for a few years, he is already someone who resides in the upper echelons of the global house and techno scene. This is evidenced by the fact that as a DJ he plays only the most revered places, and when he does so he manages to reach far and wide, calling upon many different electronic sounds without ever falling prey to modern trends. It is the same when producing on labels like Aus and his own Graded, where his records are functional but fun affairs with corrugated drums, rugged bass and physical grooves that never fail to arrest a dance floor’s attention. This mix he has served up for us is another fine example of that. 

Starting off in an abstract world of atmospheric sound and smeared chords, it’s not long before Midland establishes a groove that then grows in stature for the next hour. Atop the always physical drums are all manner of cosmic melodies, soul fuelled pads and spryly percussive patterns. Touching on house that ranges from dark and mysterious to more sun kissed and playful, this journey feels much long than it is because of how much Midland manages to so masterfully pack in.

일렉트로닉 음악 작곡가이자 라이브 연주자, 30D 레이블의 운영자인 30drop은 바르셀로나의 전성기 때 유년 시절을 보내며 포스트 펑크, 고스, 그리고 일렉트로닉 음악에 빠져들었고, 90년대 중반 바로셀로나의 전설적인 클럽들 - Nitsa, KGB, Moog, Syndicate에서 시데랄(Sideral)이나 앙헬 몰리나(Angel Molina) 같은 로컬 디제이들의 세트를 들으며 성장했다. 2000년대에 들어 테크노, 실험음악, 인더스트리얼 장르에 깊이 빠져든 그는 30drop이라는 가명을 만들고 40~50년대 미래 공상 과학 소설과 클래식 디트로이트,  버밍엄 테크노에서 영감을 받은 새로운 테크노 음악을 만들기 시작했다. 이후 그는 Berghain, Tresor, Moog 등의 세계적인 클럽에서 공연하는 유럽 일렉트로닉 뮤직 씬의 주요 인물이 되었고, 2014년에는 기능적이면서 동시에 실험적인 댄스 음악을 위한 플랫폼 30D Records를 설립하여 현재까지 이어오고 있다.
30drop은 2015년 Detroit Underground 레이블에서 첫 정규앨범 ‘Tools For The Dimensional Step(2015)’를 발표한 이후, 제프 밀스(Jeff Mills)가 운영하는 전설적인 Axis Records에서 ‘Soroban(2020)’과 Photosynthetic Zone Manifesto(2021)’, 30D 레코즈를 통해 ‘The Time Of Cruel Miracles(2017)’, ‘Insight Into Mind And Space(2023)’를 발매하는 등, 현재까지 총 5장의 정규 앨범과 수많은 EP 앨범들을 발표했다.

Electronic music composer, Live performer and 30D label owner 30drop was born and raised in Barcelona where he first fell in love with post-punk, goth and electronic music during the city’s post-Olympia heyday. At the time, Spain was bursting at the seems with new artistic and cultural energy culturally in the wake of the ‘La Onda Layetana’ cultural movement in Barcelona in the late 70s and the ‘La Movida’ movement in Madrid in the 80s. 
30drop spent the mid-90s between legendary clubs Nitsa, KGB, Moog or Syndicate (in neighboring Terrassa) and various local skate parks, where tapes of the previous nights' sets by local heroes such as Sideral or Angel Molina were played and traded. Delving deeper into techno, experimental and industrial electronics in the 2000s, he adopted the 30drop moniker in reference to the drop-frame time code used for synching 1950s US black and white TV images to sound. He eventually began making music inspired by Russian, British and American retro- futuristic science fiction of the 40s and 50s, as well as classic Detroit and Birmingham techno. 
Since 2014 he has become a staple of the European electronic music scene, playing venues such as Berghain, Tresor, Moog Club, etc. The same year he also established his own 30D records imprint as a platform for both functional and more experimental strains of dance music. 
As a producer, 30drop combines elements of industrial, bleep techno and electro with polyrhythmic melodies and evocative soundscapes, creating create music that is both functional and listenable outside of the club context. He was released five full length albums, including Soroban (2020) and Photosynthetic Zone Manifesto (2021) on Jeff Mills’ legendary Axis Records, as well as Tools For The Dimensional Step (2015) on the Detroit Underground imprint, The Time Of Cruel Miracles (2017) and Insight Into Mind And Space (2023) on his own 30D Records, where he also collaborated with Gerald Donald (as Arpanet) for the split EP Phases (2018).

With end of year lists slowly starting to trickle out, there's one track in particular we find that's absent from some of the bigger sites, despite having what could be considered a decent summer. Championed by both Joy Orbison and Scuba in each of their respected Essential mixes, snippets of new untitled Endian teased the notion that a follow up to his Electric Minds and NonPlus releases would be forthcoming in the near future. Having debuted on the Radio 1 airwaves in July 2014, it wasn't till early May 2015 that the track got a name and a confirmed release date on London based label Secretsundaze. Titled 'Finish Me' the track, would go on to become one of our favourite summer anthems (as mentioned here) and acquire a near-omnipresent status in clubs and at festivals up and down the country over the summer period, while still remaining in some way an underground sleeper-hit. We'd like to think the nod to his roots, and other revered alias, struck a chord or possibly two with all the jungle enthusiasts out there, as well as appealing to the house and techno crowd. While the A side explored more club-friendly territory with its melodic aspects and billowing breakdown, the B side's "Dusty" and "Sub Tropics" provided a much more rooted warehouse affair; taking his technical skill and experience as Commix and and channeling it into the confines of 130BPM. His use of subtle melodies and pads, reminiscent of 90s jungle/drum and bass LPs have made for well received tracks like "Birdhouse" and "Two Chords Deep", the latter being one of his early attempts at using a proper hardware setup to explore his techno and house productions, and arguably still one of his best tracks.

Making a name for himself with sublime techno and deep techno releases, Clotur standout DJ sets and the tireless work of his label Warok.

He developed his sound and absorbed ranging influences until his first EP came out in 2016, ‘Atmospheric Optics’ together with Ossē. A singular vision combines club-oriented, hypnotic techno rhythms with pristine percussive elements, hazy ambience and delicate shifts. 
His 2019 ‘’Dimensions doors’’ EP is a prime example, as are his previous releases on Fabrik Musik, Northallsen, Lett record, and his homebase, Warok Music.

Launched in 2016 as the first Tunisian Techno/Ambient/Experimental label, Warok Music has become a consistent source of transportive techno and a platform for its founders (Clotur, Eyth) to express their respective sounds. Committed to pushing boundaries and connecting scenes with each release, Warok signs artist from many scenes and musical approaches. In all their work, Clotur threads a heady narrative and distinctive sonic palette. His gifted ear for recognising and curating promising artists is best demonstrated by the breadth and invariably high standard of their 22-track, 2 Year Anniversary compilation.
As a DJ, Clotur embodies a similar philosophy to his label, often performing in his current home of Paris as well as proudly pushing the fast-growing scene in Tunisia with solo DJ sets and Warok showcases. All the projects Clotur lends his hand to are in some way meditative, conjuring organic feelings for the body and mind. It’s as true of the moments in time he creates on dancefloors as it is of the eternal statement he makes in the studio and with Warok.
