This mix was created when Damian and Martin joined forces in a rare musically alternative back to back session when they met up in Tulum  after having played The Day of Dead in different cities around Mexico. 

We hope you enjoy the first 90 minutes of this session as we count down the days until these two forces of nature collide again for DAY ZERO at the magical pyramid site Chanolandia outside Playa Del Carmen on the 11th of January 2014

Moonboots - Guest Mix

Moonboots started DJ-ing back in 1988 following the acid house explosion in the UK.
After many nights out at the Hacienda he got himself a job working at Eastern Bloc Records in Manchester. He worked there for nine years and this led to many DJ-ing slots around MCR at nights such as Luvdup, Most Excellent and Robodisco.

He then started his own night, Aficionado with another local DJ, Jason Boardman. This ran every Sunday for ten years and featured guests such as Todd Terje, Greg Wilson, Phil Mison, Bill Brewster, Sean P, Mudd
and most of the UK's underground Balearic and disco DJs.

Since then, it has run as a quarterly event and is now into its 16th year.

Running alongside the night is his& Jason's highly rated 12" vinyl only label, Aficionado Recordings. Now up to the 10th release, it has featured releases by Shawn Lee, Joan Bibiloni, Brenda Ray& Tempelhof.

As well as guesting all over Europe and the US, Moonboots compiled SoundColours Volume 3 in 2000& Originals Volume 1 for Claremont 56 in 2008. He has also compiled the forthcoming Javier Bergia album on Emotional Rescue and curated the Is it Balearic 'First Five Years' collection from the summer of 2014.

In Hour 2 we're joined by BreakBeat Lou, a true legendary figure in hip hop culture. Alongside Lenny Roberts, he co created the Ultimate Breaks and Beats series that provided samples for most of the top Hip Hop producers from DJ Premier, Large Professor, The Bomb Squad, Pete Rock, Dr. Dre and Marley Marl, to J Dilla, Salaam Remi and Just Blaze. They began compiling albums of classic breaks that had been played by Kool Herc and Afrika Bambaataa, but they soon became sample sources for the next generation of producers, often using edits of the tracks done by Lou. The classic Amen break used in Jungle is just one example that appeared early on in this series. We don't have a track list for his mix, but you'll recognise some of them from the UBB series plus plenty more obscure gems from his collection and you can catch him spinning alongside Peanut Butter Wolf on their European tour this week.

Very happy to provide a new episode of the Modern Soul Bangers serie with this 4th edition. In this one, as usual, you will find a mixture of rare / under the radar stuffs & other, more well known records. 

The mix starts a bit slow in terms of BPM but progressively moves on to nice & favorite dancers. 

Most of the selection is made of OG copies (7", 12" or LP cuts), with only one dubplate & an edit of mine. 

I hope this new edition will please your ears, as the previous ones did. Any feedback is always (very appreciated)! Don't hesitate to share around if you feel the mix deserves it... :)

Last thing : this was the first time I recorded a mix with the baby phone on, watching if the little one was sleeping / not sleeping :)
