10TRAX #041 comes from Olefonken, a norwegian producer based in London. With two releases this year, Olefonken is having a good 2016, however he’s not a newcomer. In 2013 he released a track, Ubuntu Tutu, alongside an EP with the band hubbabubbaklubb; and in 2014 he was selected for the Tokyo edition of the prestigious RBMA.
 
Following the path of other norwegian producers, his tracks are influenced by spacey disco, how ever his mixes offer a greater range. This 10TRAX presents a plethora of tunes that go from big pop names like ELO and Stevie Wonder and cult tracks like “Le Troublant Témoignage De Paul Martin”. The Norwegian DJ tells us “these 10TRAX are a selection of some old time favorites for lazy sunday afternoons, in other words something to hang your hat on! It also contains a preview of our next release with hubbabubbaklubb coming out later this year on Snorkel Records. Hope you guys like it.”

10TRAX number 43 comes from Tom Schaek aka Diepvries. The Belgian has shared with us a great mix which he describes as: “the stuff i listen to when i'm working, some of my favorite spiritual jams, cosmic jazz, rainforest dub, buddha rock, japanese psychedelia but nothing too crazy.” For us it’s a mix full of good musical taste and experience, a real psychedelic trip through different sounds with soft and coherent transitions. 

Tom tells us that: “I consider myself a retired dj. I rarely play out anymore (kids and stuff, you know) but still really into... [I am] always doing a new mix and most of the time I trash it but sometimes it just comes to me like a revelation, those are the best. At the moment I'm working on an 8 hour ambient mix. The idea is that you can either play it for a full work day if you want to completely zone out from your coworkers. Or you can play it really quietly while you're sleeping and maybe something interesting will happen.” 

Diepvries is also the founder of Flexx records which was particularly active during from 2005 to 2010 with a healthy amount of releases. Currently the label is on standby but Tom is considering rebooting it one day, hopefully sooner than later!

For over six years now, Andy Pye's been transforming various clubs in the north into visions of paradise. Over the course of an evening, Leeds becomes a Leo Mas style landscape; heavenly birds swoop down from office blocks, the oaks of Hyde Park mutate into giant palms, everything is awash in brilliant blue.

Or at least that's how it seems whenver we find ourselves in the company of Pye's Balearic Social squad.
