Life's Too Short (Melodic Instrumental Synth Pop)

An instrumental track I wrote using symphonic and progressive elements to create something with an "epic" sound in order to represent the ancient idea of one's descent or passage through great trial and ordeal (represented usually by the underworld or hell) as a necessary suffering leading to betterment and proof of worth, although not always in the most obvious way.

JPJ - "Katabasis" (instrumental)

This one was written in 2010, and still I wonder where it came from, as it's not my style at all! Originally written as the second movement to my 4th symphony, it became a stand-alone favorite after it was performed by the Surrey Hills Orchestra in 2011, then again by the Zelmann orchestra in 2012. The isolated version of the piece was performed again as you hear it now by the NSO in 2014, and described as 'Wind players fighting to get more playtime.' The aim of the piece was to experiment using a section of the orchestra other than the strings as the dominant. Even though this didn't really work well, it still created an interesting dynamic between the wind and string sections, with the brass coming in momentarily to round off the piece. I hope you enjoy!

Brand New Day

Commissioned (But not used) for Culture Kids. A documentary surrounding the migration of young children from their homes. A soft piano riff accompanied by an even softer undertones single note gently fades away as dramatic strings and brass gradually takes hold of the score.

I feel that music is a wonderful and magical gift given to us by the creator to sustain our soul just like food, water and air does for our body! We all crave it, like the many treats discovered at a state fair.The mingling of meandering scents and flavors can overwhelm the senses. We want to taste it all,you know too much is no good for you, but you need it,it makes you feel alive! 
Music is a life force, an ever existing element in the universe! To me its a cosmic energy that is as old as time itself. All of us can enjoy its many treasures and feast on the never ending pallet of flavors music offers, but a very lucky few of us are blessed with a special gift. With a lot of work,discipline,preparation and love, some of us are fortunate enough to hitch a brief but glorious ride on the whirlwind, to a mystical magical place where musical stories are born. Every once in a while we're able capture one of these fabulous tales and bring it back to share with you. I love the places my musical journey's take me and sharing them with you and I truly hope you will too!
