As young musicians, Cesttoi & Airom had always been on the lookout for new inspiration to fuel their music. One day, they stumbled upon a mysterious collection of rubies and sapphire diamonds that seemed to have magical properties. Whenever they held the diamonds, they could hear Angelic music emanating from them. Cesttoi and Airom didn't know why, but they felt compelled to take them back to the studio and start creating music...

The moment they started to create music with the diamonds, something strange happened.. It's as if something had taken over them; the music they created was unlike anything they had ever heard before! It was beautiful and insightful, but there was something otherworldly about it. Cesttoi and Airom didn't know what it meant, but they couldn't stop playing with the diamonds...

As they continued to create music, they began to notice something else strange. Whenever people listened to their music, they felt uplifted, inspired & purified.. Whatever may have been affecting the person previously, was instantly forgotten. It was as though the music was affecting them in ways that they couldn't explain. But Cesttoi & Airom also noticed that there were some people who seemed to be affected negatively. These people would instantly begin to emanate an evil aura when they listened to the music. Cesttoi and Airom didn't know why, but they knew they had to be careful...

One night after a successful concert, a mysterious woman approached Cesttoi & Airom.. They could sense a divine, radiant aura, which encompassed her. She began to reveal the truth about the diamonds. She knew how the diamonds were created, who created them and why they were sent here to Earth.. These mystic diamonds served a higher purpose - this was of course a good thing, but she begins to share that there's some VERY immoral, wicked "people" who are out to capture these diamonds.. BY ANY MEANS! Now the musicians are faced with a troubling dilemma, and must solve the mystery they've been presented with. | Will Cesttoi and Airom be able to keep the diamonds safe, while using its power to create beautiful music, and inspire/heal as many as possible? Or will these cryptic evil beings succeed in taking them away?? What other secrets and powers do the diamonds hold??? 👀🔎🧠💎✨

Used some hihats and brush sounds from one sample, horns from that same one, and a lot of that weird synth sample. Also some rhodes and what not. Was going to put Soulja Boy Crank That on this, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. It was part of some crazy experiment to see if a better beat than the original could save a horrid song. Seeing that I didn't even complete the remix, I guess I have my answer!

This week is nature week and in accordance with the rules a chill beat was required (for me it seems to be an unwritten rule that I follow weekly). I used one of the samples and ran it through many plugins (Phaser, lowpass filter, lofi filter, finally Guitar Rig). I played the rest of the stuff. I also did some field recordings of birds and me aimlessly walking around in leaves. The vox sample is the only outside sample.

29 Soul Experiments

Inspired by Hip Hop, Soul, Jazz, and Funk to name a few, the North Carolina based producer has been making music for over ten years. He primarily uses the Maschine blending his love of sampling and musicianship together to create new pieces. He is currently a member of We Grow Wax, an international collective of producers musicians.

My Long story:
In 2005 I came across a copy of FL Studio 4 and started making beats with no musical background, just armed with a laundry list of usual suspects for inspiration (Pete Rock, DJ Premier, 9th Wonder, etc.). Sampling primarily from great P2P programs like Kazaa and Bearshare, I moved on from downloading random MP3s and started chopping up records. After about a year of this, I felt a bit limited and wanted to explore other avenues, so I eventually started incorporating original instrumentation into my works. Along the way I began to rely more heavily on a broader list of musical influences from various genres. Within the realm of Hip Hop, some artists include The Roots, J Dilla, and 20Syl of Hocus Pocus. These three have had a very large influence on the sound that I present today, which primarily consists of original instrumentation, with traces of my earlier years of heavy sampling.
