Feels like I'm reading a poet about...Me?! 😮

It's my first and hopefully not last collaboration with the wonderful Dirk Maassen. 
I was very pleased when Dirk asked me to record a guitar part to his piece Déjà vu.
I recorded 2 versions, an improvised version and a more composed version. I decided to post my improvised version. It simply has more charisma and contrast to the piano.

Dirk Maassen - Now And Here

This is my  submission to the second part of 'The Piano Clouds' (TPC) - 'Ebony and Ivory' Challenge (initiated and hosted by https://soundcloud.com/simon-reich), which involves creating a piece using only the black keys on the piano (yikes! hehe). The first part of the Challenge involved creating a piece using only the white keys ('As the Garden Grows'). This 'black keys'  piece was originally a piano solo improvisation, but I wanted to learn more and add some more FX and instrumentation, so I'm not sure what it is! The piano is still dominant for the Challenge, whilst I tried to incorporate a more 'ambient' mood. I'm now looking forward to listening to all the submissions for the Challenge, as I've only had a chance to listen to a few! :-) 

If you'd like to listen and give some feedback, especially given this approach to music is still relatively new to me, its always much appreciated :-) xx

This Offertory chant, with its lush melody, is one of the most exquisite masterpieces of the Gregorian repertoire. It invites the whole world to admire the wonder of love shown by God to the world.

This offertory undoubtedly shows one of the most spectacular of all Gregorian melismas (long-breathed melodies with several notes to each syllable). The Jubilate Deo demands bravery from the singers, but this song of praise communicates joy and enthusiasm. The Jubilate's melisma is like an immense wave of praise and joy, powerful and strong, in continuous crescendo towards its majestic peak. It consists of 55 notes and particularly favours adjacent intervals. This very tight melody rises gradually, in a grand yet steady way, to the sublime summit reached on a high F. One imagines, through this marvelous ascent, the chorus of praise growing as, one after the other, all creatures, from the most humble to the noblest, come before the throne of God and offer him in thanksgiving their immense joy.

Offertorium - Jubilate Deo Universa Terra

Yellow Bird is the opening track from Eric's latest album, Fire in the Clouds. Its a delightful solo piano piece. "Lately in the early summer we get these really cool-looking little birds called American Yellow Finches. Since I noticed them, I've been noticing lots of other colorful birds here as well. Don't know why but I love seeing those little guys. So I wrote them a song."
