It took a long time to get this tune finished because Mr Stabalina did indeed throw his hands in the air, and because he’s made of helium and sex musk, they floated off and were taken by an eagle.

We contacted Team America but they kept repeating ‘Mmmaaattt Dammmmmooonnnn’, over and over; we contacted The A-Team but they refused to travel; we contacted the Time Team but they had a problem with their geophys; no answer at all from The Suicide Squad. In the end we tracked them down with a sex-musk-o-meter. Hello. My name is Mr Stabalina. You stole my hands. Prepare to die.*

Safely back in the studio we’ve been trying alternatives to throwing actual hands in the air. We’ve tried ants, pants and washing machines, but after getting stung, arrested and breaking very many bones we’d recommend just sticking with your hands and damn the consequences.

*The Eagle and Mr Stabalina formed a firm friendship and are now fighting crime in Guatemala.

This EP has been on the cards since Swim INC won the Crash Party remix contest a few years back and his production skills have gone strength to strength since. Meaning, that now his bass lines can officially make the elderly defecate when played through a reasonable sound system. Luckily, he’s medically trained, and this kind of occurrence doesn’t faze him.

Being down under and skilled with glitchy sound design, it was only right he teamed up with Cuttin’ It Fines man-mountain Kenny Beeper. Powers combined, these two have managed to cook up 3 delicious neck-snapping melodies that will blow speakers and entice mosh pits wherever they are played. However, this EP does come with a warning. Any DJ doing sets at retirement homes best be packing some wet wipes, because it’s about to get messy!

A long time ago (Saturday 9 February 2013 to be precise) there was once a Valentines Snow Ball, held at a crazy venue called Bristol Townhouse. The gig was great fun - albeit a tad on the quiet side - and upon the bill was an up n coming three-piece band named Captain Flatcap. It was here where chief squirrel Spinforth and blurb master Fat Harry first heard these Flatcap gents doing their awesome squelchy swing, ska, funk, folk, gypsy, vintage remix'y thang, and instinctively considered them promising talent to watch...a nut was sown.

Fast forward nearly 4 years and Captain Flatcap have well and truly blossomed. With several EP releases (courtesy of Rocstar Recordings) under their belts and a plethora of memorable UK festival appearances, the time hath come for them to proudly unleash their self-titled debut LP unto our ears and crates. Not only a first for them, but also for Scour Records - as this LP marks the first full length Artist LP that we've been granted the honour and pleasure to release.

With collaborative tracks featuring legendary rap duos @too-many-ts and @wearegreatscott, vocalist Isabel Drake and glitch-hop connoisseur @william-breakspear, the debut album truly establishes Captain Flatcap's skills and diversity. There's something for everyone - with the Spanish guitar + ska + DnB party antics of 'Are You Me?', the Russian mandolin electro voyage of 'Sergei's Journey', the trademark Flatcap electro swing sound of 'Coconut Affair', and the down right gorgeous filthy squelchy glitch of 'Awakening' - as you'd expect the album shows off a multitude of instruments, including their distinctive flute and trumpet parts, and features an intriguing blend of genres and tempos.
