WizardMane - Life Goes On

Paploviante's done it again with Glitter, an intriguing super funky dance track that upon closer listening, plays with dissonance because each instrument is playing in a different key.  It's not that noticeable at first cause rhythmically it all works perfectly, yet when I jumped in to add a Rhodes track over the top, it was clear that Paul and them music is playing with your ear.  So instead of finding a completely different key as Paul so successfully did, I jumped in with one of the synth fills and had a little fun.  What a great track again from Paul, the Swiss music machine who creates and navigates across so many styles so well.  Paul's got a nasty bass line going as always and did such a marvelous job with the tight guitar, synth and electro backbeats.  I've had the pleasure of jumping into about 20 of Paul's great tracks and send a big thanks over to the Alps for his continuing creations for others to jump on. This is a song that originated with Mark, and existed as a song he wrote on the piano after, like many of us, getting back into playing following an extended hiatus. He sent it to me, who added the fretless bass and some delay-heavy electric guitar. After that, Mark added the catchy, powerful drums and made a couple of key editorial changes. Then we got Tez involved, who added not only the screaming guitar parts in the meat of the song, but also the entire coda at the end. Tez also produced and mixed this for us, expertly. This is the first of hopefully many songs Tez and I do with Mark. We hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed making it.

While we wait for BARDS: Of The Shimmering Seraphs to finish physical production, in the meantime we are forging ahead with a new crop of songs for the next album. The next album will serve as a continuation of the oracle deck concept, featuring songs about "objects" - the first of which be this little song about the magical horn of the elusive and beautiful Aardvark Girl. It is also about a recently discovered strange dwarf planet at the farthest reaches of our solar system.

Gǃkúnǁʼhòmdímà  was discovered on 19 Oct 2007 at the Palomar observatory in California, at 9:09 UT. Gkunhomdima is a member of the extended scattered disc and is a trans-Neptunian object (TNO). Its orbit is inclined 23° off the ecliptic and is quite elliptical. It was knocked out of a normal orbit early in the history of the solar system, probably as Neptune migrated outward to its current position, which gives the high  inclination of Gkunhomdima’s orbit. However, there is no known orbital resonance with any other planetary body, except for its binary companion. Its ‘moon’, or secondary is called G!o’e !Hu (pronounced GOH ay KOO). Goeku means ‘horn’, or Oryx horn. And that takes us to a bit of mythology.

Gǃkúnǁʼhòmdímà is also the Beautiful Aardvark Girl of Juǀʼhoan mythology, who sometimes appears in the stories of other San peoples as a python girl or elephant girl; she defends her people and punishes wrongdoers using gǁámígǁàmì spines [devil’s thorn plant], a rain-cloud full of hail, and her magical oryx horn.
