Ballet av Nordyls or Ballet of Northern Lights is based on a time lapse film I was watching of the Northern Lights. I was trying to keep time with the amazing shifts and slow languid turns the lights were making in the sky which in part is represented by the phrenetic drums, slow melodic movements and punctuated by quick snippets of sound.

Self-playing modular synth patch. Sound source is Mutable Instruments Elements in Ringified mode. Digital noise from E102 filtered through a MMF-2, then into Elements. Gates come from RG-6 - rhythms come from an LFO modulating the RG-6 clock rate. There is a steady pulse going into clock sync, so the modulated clock rate is constantly going above and below the sync point, creating the rhythms. 

Melancholy Rings

One day my partner told me I was snoring, so I asked if she wouldn't mind recording what it sounded like because I was interested in hearing the timbre. My field recording interests run deep, apparently. :) She kindly recorded me snoring a number of times, including these five times I've edited and strung together here. I also asked her to wake me up so that I could change positions to stop snoring and let her sleep again. It just so happens that what I say in response to her telling me I'm snoring is sometimes amusing. I curse at one point, so this warrants a NSFW tag.
