Recorded using a Zoom F3 with 32-bit float technology and an Audio-Technica BP4025 stereo mic. Captured the sound of an F-35B in full afterburner at the Miramar Air Show from approximately 100 yards away.

The accompanying photo features the actual plane at the same moment of recording.

Traditional recorders often clip loud noises, but 32-bit float technology allows for recovery of extremely loud sounds—like gunshots, aircraft, etc.—during post-processing. Levels were adjusted to not exceed 0dB.

This technology is similar to shooting photos in RAW mode; the files are larger but offer invaluable flexibility for post-production corrections.
