Chilling Moments July 2022

The yearly Classics three day reunion party is an event I look forward to each and every year and this year was no exception. I always love this weekend with great house music and great friends and am honoured each and every year to close out the event.

I had a bit of free time this week so I jumped into the home studio for a few hours to revisit the music I played to end the event last week. I am notoriously terrible at waiting for the actual live recordings and always prefer to present a mix of just music without any of the additional mic announcements that would have occurred during the actual event.

So here is a live re-recording of something very similar to what I played. It's always a unique event for me as I typically program my set a bit backwards and get slower & deeper to help shut the event down (no ending an event with the insanity of something like RHCP @ Woodstock 99 lol).

A great collection of organic and progressive house for your listening pleasure.

Hello Everyone, welcome back to the PFG Progcast! Fly with us every Wednesday as we scour the globe looking for those perfect Progressive beats! 

Stopping at the home of a girl whose very DNA is entwined with rave culture, our DJ today has only really just taken to the decks in the last few years. She's landed a few hot residencies, and with this guest mix aims to show us all where she is in her career progression .. we think its coming along just fine! 

Put your hands together for Candy! 

Based in England's leafy Loughborough, Candy Dupree Webb began her journey into electronic music, and the raving that comes with it, in 1992. She had already been into dance music since reaching her teens, and went to her first ever rave at the age of 17! After a few years of attending hardcore, drum and bass and jungle raves, it was The Man Like Sasha that initially turned her ear to the house music scene.

Following that, Sasha's world dominance with John Digweed and their game changing back to back DJ sets, locked Candy into the groove and took her down the Progressive House route. As it is the same for millions of us in the scene, Renaissance: The Mix Collection album changed the way she understood music and the art of mixing, forever.

It has taken nearly 20 years for Candy to transfer her wealth of knowledge in front of the decks to behind them. After being urged to put her passion for the scene and its music into something more fruitful than just messing around at after parties, it was the recent global pandemic and subsequent lockdown's, that finally saw Candy take the plunge. This time away from her beloved clubbing focused her mind on her mixing, the results of which are now bearing fruit.

Shortly after, Candy bagged a residency with PHUK, and has several head line DJ Show's online now. Top of these is her Saturday night slot on Subcode Club, playing alongside many of her DJ heroes! 

'I always try to think outside the box, finding tracks that aren't always the frontline ones. I dig deep and try to create my own style, so the journey is refreshing to the listeners...'

Hello everyone! If you are new to the series or well versed, welcome! This is our infamous weekly Progcast, and today we are celebrating the third year of our journeys around the world of global underground dance music. What better way to celebrate this massive achievement? In the only way PFG knows how..

Little did anyone think, that when we started this series, it would grow into what you see now. Delivering an exclusive mix on a weekly basis, from a range of DJ's & artists, headliner's, label bosses, industry legends, upcoming talent and even our own members. The series has grown from strength to strength, gaining recognition from the highest levels of power within our scene,  and raising a few eyebrows along the way.

It seemed only right to mark such a prestigious occasion as this by delivering a mix that will go down in history. Always keen to top what's come before, we celebrate our 3rd birthday with the one and only... Jim Rivers! 

After a hiatus of a few years 2023 sees the rejuvenated Jim Rivers back in the studio and making music again…

With releases on stellar labels like Bedrock, Global Underground and Renaissance and an album on Carl Cox’s Intec, Jims back catalogue is littered with a wide variety of music, all made with a depth and warmth few others can match.

Jim featured in the highly acclaimed Nu Breed series on Global Underground as well as lending his remixing skills to world class artists such as Quivver, Laurent Garnier, Deadmau5 and Photek to name a few.  

Under the alias Copy Paste Soul, Jim took his sound to a different place fusing garage, techno and drum and bass with a heavy dose of soul and dancefloor fun, that saw the project gain support from big hitters Annie Mac and Skream on BBC Radio 1.

His DJ travels have taken him from Ministry of Sound and Fabric in London, to Space in Ibiza, Pacha in Buenos Aires, Air in Tokyo, North and South American tours and many weird and wonderful places in between.

After rupturing his achilles at the end of last year and facing time away from his day job, Jim knew this was all the motivation he needed to really get his music making mojo back. Over the past few months his Maidstone studio has been a hive of activity, culminating with a folder full of new productions that will make their way out this year. In 2023 Jim is back and finding his groove again. 

It’s about making music that makes him feel something first and then seeing where it goes! Expect to see a lot more new music this year, some of which you can hear exclusively on this mix!

Soul

Former fixture of the Atlantic Canadian electronic music scene now turned bedroom DJ with 25 years of experience as a local pro. While Sean no longer performs his love for electronic music remains unabated but evidence of that can only be found by way of his long running mix series "Chilling Moments" now in its 23rd year.

Having compiled an impressive list of accomplishments throughout the years, Sean has played alongside some of the biggest DJs in the industry including Sasha, Deep Dish, Danny Howells, Sultan, Luke Fair and Steve Porter, just to name a few. He has even had the honour of opening for world class DJs slightly outside of his genre such as Armin Van Buuren, Tiga, Calvin Harris, Ferry Corsten, Kaskade and Darude. In 2011 Sean also provided the winning mix in John Digweed's "Structures Two" mix contest and was featured on John's long running radio show "Transitions". An accomplishment that even the most seasoned of pro DJs aspires to.

With Sean's dedication to his craft, ear for the music along with his storytelling ability, each one of his mixes is sure to be an emotional journey through sound.
