SYSS or "Smoke Yourself Silly Sessions" was a cheeky mix series I started in 2004 where I would smoke a few and then record an unplanned mix session @ home with no preconceived notion of what material I was going to play. I've always found that sometimes the best music comes from spontaneousness so that was sort of the idea with this series of mixes. A bit of a stark contrast between these and my highly programmed mix releases.

There were 8 mixes recorded between 2004 and 2008 and they reflect the wide variety of music I was into at the time.

Smoke Yourself Silly Sessions

A decade ago now I decided to create a new mix series titled "Smoke Yourself Silly Sessions".  The idea was to let go of any preconceived notions of building a set and just get behind the decks and play whatever I was in the mood to play.  Like most djs, I have always enjoyed those random moments where magic seems to happen and have found that I tend to mix tracks the best (IMHO) the first time I ever play them.  I'm not sure if this is because instead of expecting things to happen you end up just letting them happen but whatever the reason, sometimes it leads to the most uplifting moments.

I ended up doing 8 of these mixes between 2004 and 2008, some of which got really out of hand and ended up being nearly 4 hours in length.  Since I took my website down a number of years ago this mix series has been somewhat forgotten and only seems to reside on DJ Bolivia's (www.djbolivia.ca) website at this point.  Seeing as how it was started a decade ago now I thought it an appropriate time to share them again.

Anyway, here is Volume 1 which starts out with some amazing (and sometimes rare) early Sultan, Tone Depth, and Ned Shepard material before going completely Iberican and then coming back to where it started.  It took me sometime to rebuild the tracklisting for this mix since it seems I had never bothered.  I was able to identify all but one so if anyone out there is knowledgable enough to help id the second to last track I would really appreciate it.  I am quite sure it is something from Sultan and/or Tone Depth as their sound at that time was unmistakable but for the life of me I can't think of it.

SYSS V (June 2006)

Former fixture of the Atlantic Canadian electronic music scene now turned bedroom DJ with 25 years of experience as a local pro. While Sean no longer performs his love for electronic music remains unabated but evidence of that can only be found by way of his long running mix series "Chilling Moments" now in its 23rd year.

Having compiled an impressive list of accomplishments throughout the years, Sean has played alongside some of the biggest DJs in the industry including Sasha, Deep Dish, Danny Howells, Sultan, Luke Fair and Steve Porter, just to name a few. He has even had the honour of opening for world class DJs slightly outside of his genre such as Armin Van Buuren, Tiga, Calvin Harris, Ferry Corsten, Kaskade and Darude. In 2011 Sean also provided the winning mix in John Digweed's "Structures Two" mix contest and was featured on John's long running radio show "Transitions". An accomplishment that even the most seasoned of pro DJs aspires to.

With Sean's dedication to his craft, ear for the music along with his storytelling ability, each one of his mixes is sure to be an emotional journey through sound.
