New EP ‘Heartbreaker’ out 25th November on Vinyl and 9th December on Beatport

Lead singer of award-winning band Bloc Party and DJ/Producer Kele Okereke has announced a new EP of original productions on Crosstown Rebels in November. Out on vinyl on the 25th November and available on Beatport on the 9th December, the new ‘Heartbreaker EP’ from Kele Okereke features four tracks which display his love for electronic dance music genres such as garage, house and deep house. 

The first track from the EP, eponymous ‘Heartbreaker’ shows Kele’s UK Garage influences, and features vocals from Bobbie Gordon. ‘God Has A Way’ features old school house chord stabs, more uplifting guest vocals and a driving rhythm, whereas ‘Get Up’ provides a sparser, deeper atmosphere and is the only track to feature Kele himself on vocals. The EP also features a remix of lead single ‘Heartbreaker’ by German deep house DJ Recondite. His first two solo EPs 'The Boxer' and 'The Hunter' pushed the envelope for his electronic production standards, and now this EP continues further on that dancefloor trajectory. 

From Bloc Party’s Platinum-selling debut album to Okereke’s guest vocals for The Chemical Brothers, Tiesto and Sub Focus, dance music has always been the underlying influence for Kele: “I’ve always loved the inclusive and spiritual nature of house music, so the opportunity to make music for the most iconic and influential house music label in the UK is a dream come true for me.” Having spent ten years making records in studios working with some of the greatest producers in the world, Kele now feels he knows how to make music that he wants to hear.

Founded in 2003 by legendary producer-DJ Damian Lazarus, Crosstown Rebels is the UK’s leader in underground, cutting edge dance music and has become home to some of the best techno, electro and house artists of today.

Greg Monte (warner case’s default world name) hit me up last year because I DJ’d and did some music business stuff and all that. He had good manners on email, so we agreed to meet. We had tea at my favorite place, and he didn’t try to order coffee. He had a great jawline, was from Buffalo (at the time I was making out with this really pretty girl from Buffalo), and it worked for Drake & Future #WATTBA, so with all these things adding up, we decided to fuck with each other. I don’t mean romantically, just musically (...or did I?). Greg came up with the concept and it was 100% up my alley. Now, even if Greg is a shitty DJ (I am honestly still not sure) he can just drop #WereAllFriends and everyone will freak out. I played it the other night at a Sundance party and all these girls in fur hats came into the booth and asked me what it was and I got their numbers and sent it to them and we’re all gonna make out fo real. So it works, it’s been proven.

“We’re All Friends” is an homage to the original spirit of house, where all are welcome and equal on the dance floor.  “…because once you enter my house, it then becomes our house" - My House by Rhythm Control. In short, it bangs (and doesn’t discriminate between who, what, where, how you want to bang).

He founded his label Win Music in 2013 with the release of Duke Dumont's "Need U 100%," which debuted #1 iTunes and was Grammy Nominated. He's since released artists like Flight Facilities, Tiga, Anabel Englund, Human Life, ETML, Anna Lunoe, Audion, and Just Kiddin. As a DJ, he has played all over--EDC, Life is Beautiful, Governor's Ball, Mysteryland, and Coachella--where he actually programs one of the stages. While his New York warehouse parties have grown to over 5000 attendees, his smaller, non­traditional events have been covered in B​usiness Insider, Vice, Village Voice, ​and more. SG himself has been covered in N​Y Times, Wall Street Journal, Vanity Fair, Billboard,​ Mixmag and more. In 2015, Sean was voted #5 in Music Business Worldwide's Young Executive Shortlist

SG launched his production career in 2015 with remixes of Robert Delong's "Long Way Down" and Flight Facilities' "Down to Earth" which both reached #1 on Hypem. His first original, "We're All Friends," a collaboration with Jay xero, came out in 2016.
