Dutch trio Envotion are guys that are really close to my heart. Already in the game for over a decade they keep on improving and reinventing their sound. Adrift is their latest addition and what a beautiful strong progressive tune this is. Building smoothly to create a dreamy atmosphere towards the contagious piano chords and trancy synths, this record breathes good vibes and will keep dancers off their feet for nights to come. Remix duties are taken care of by Sebastian Sellares who after various releases on meanwhile and Anjunadeep now brings his special melodic deep house touch to the original, we couldn't have hoped for a better remix.

Presenting their first ever collaborative project, Ezequiel Arias and Sebastian Sellares land on Cid Inc’s Replug Records with ‘Sky Above’. Label artist and progressive music star Ezequiel Arias has found a comfortable home on the Finnish imprint. After making his Replug debut in 2017 with a contribution to the label’s popular ‘Defined’ collection, the Cordoba resident went on to record joint EP’s with fellow countrymen Artfaq, which subsequently found a place on the label across 2019 and 2020. Anjunadeep, Sudbeat Music and The Soundgarden have also served as vehicles for Ezequiel’s obsessive rhythms and hyperspace melodies, while Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren have remained as steadfast supporters along the way. Meanwhile, fellow Cordoba resident Sebastian Sellares makes his label debut which follows on from a litany of successes. UK behemoth Anjunadeep, Antrim’s Or Two Strangers, GMJ & Matter’s meanwhile and US powerhouse Proton Music have all served as landing spots for the Argentine’s mesmerizing productions. As friends and contemporaries for some time, Ezequiel and Sebastian now combine their extensive forces for Replug, as the beloved duo present a much anticipated three-track showcase entitled ‘Sky Above’. 

Comprised of three distinctive and equally compelling creations, it is the charming melodies of the title selection which get the release underway. Pitched somewhere comfortably between dreamy reverie and symphonic bliss, its warm machine gun style groove and flickering percussive arrangements marry perfectly with percolating effects and panoramic arps. Coming to full fruition during the second act, the duo’s musical prowess is on full display, as a delicate lead rises, conjuring up bucolic imagery, while remaining undeniably infectious against a backdrop of glowing pads and balmy textures, onwards to a spirited finale.

Continuing the emotive lean of the release, selection two 'Delta Room' is replete with evolving, emotional and hypnotizing structures. Anchored by shuddering bass tones, whimsical chord stabs and contemplative phrasing, it moves forward with a lifelike pulse. The duo allows the listener to relish in the groove, building anticipation towards an apex of emerging riffs and colourful synth swagger, before collapsing under its own gravity and breaking into a utopian-style ecstasy. 

The elusive 'Imaginear’ rounds out the release and further solidifies the duo’s transcendent abilities. Ezequiel and Sebastian expound their lavish future vision, chasing their relentless curiosity for rhythmic and harmonic experimentation, as fuzzed out notes ring out into timeless suspension, across a bed of mountainous key changing grooves and misty textural refrains. Equally at home above a celebratory skyline or sitting in the emotional sweet spot of an end of the night scenario, its deeper design and thought-provoking atmospherics provide a much-needed dance floor curveball for the more adventurous selectors out there. 

With the ‘Sky Above’ collection Ezequiel and Sebastian have crafted a sound-story which only grows more rewarding with every stop along the way - one in which two minds travel together deeper into their own musical journeys, and the resulting alchemical power transmutes its energies into progressive music gold.

Ezequiel Arias returns to Anjunadeep with new single ‘You’; a collaboration with fellow Argentinian producer FOLGAR that features a lively breakbeat and lush, hypnotic synths.

This single follows Ezequiel’s well-received remix of Braxton, Jody Wisternoff & James Grant’s ‘SpaceTime’, which has been played over 170 times on SLAM! radio since release, and supported by Anjunadeep artists at label showcases including Anjunadeep Open Air: Los Angeles, and Anjunadeep Explorations.

Ezeqiuel Arias has previously released on labels such as Sudbeat, The Soundgarden and Plattenbank, earning himself DJ support from tastemakers like Hernán Cattáneo, Guy J, Eelke Kleijn and Yotto. FOLGAR’s discography also boasts releases on Sudbeat, as well as, most recently, John Digweed’s esteemed Bedrock Records.

Ezequiel’s 2022 Anjunadeep release ‘Dreamlike EP’, also featuring FOLGAR as a collaborator, gained support from DJ Mag Latin America, and more recently Ezequiel has been touring extensively, with 21 dates across Latin America since June, as well as completing a four-stop Australia tour last November.

Returning for its eighth outing, Meanwhile co-owner, Matter, makes his solo debut for the label via the unique musical triptych of "Amanita".

From his Melbourne home, Matty Doyle has generated a tsunami of success through his Matter production moniker. Able to point to a release portfolio with over 400 production credits to his name, such esteemed imprints as Balance, Anjunadeep, BeatFreak Recordings and Proton Music have all played host to his much sought-after music.

Now creating a new narrative for his unrivalled talents within his co-owned Meanwhile label alongside fellow countryman, GMJ, "Amanita" is redolent in trademark production features that have seen Matter in such high demand. A smooth blend of rolling percussive groove, heavy beat and cavernous bassline propel the track forward with unrelenting pace as a filtered arpeggio adds to the aural melange. A glorious synth lead enters the fray at the mid-point breakdown before a rousing wall of sound marks a club-friendly zenith before the track builds once more with its star-studded cast of musical characters.

The heavy beat and wite-noise washes of "Hikikomori" provide a weighty anchor, allowing an immaculately programmed bassline groove to weave its path between four-to-the-floor rhythm and offbeat hi-hat shuffle. A heavily delayed synth line adds a touch of class as it ripples across the seven-minute piece with ease, providing subtle introspection and emotive layers in abundance. The result is a head-shaking groover that is sure to the take dancefloors by storm into 2021.

A pulsating, running bassline immediately characterises "Wormhole" as it dynamically develops courtesy of an intelligently placed melodic variation that provokes a spine-tingling emotion in the listener. An array of percussive shakers and chest-thumping kick create a spellbinding sonic palette, while a free-flowing synth line drenched in reverb and delay adds to the emotion playing off the filtered and now staccato bassline phrase. Creating a flawlessly executed progressive house anthem, Matter has once again demonstrated why his production work draws such high praise from fans and peers alike.

A career that continues to mushroom at impressive pace, "Amanita" exhibits all the qualities that finds Matter very much flavour of month.
