This mix was recorded on a dull January day in Berlin when most of my friends had left the city for sunnier destinations, and i guess i was hoping to feel the sunshine through my selections :) On the menu is a combo of washy guitars, trippy percussion, jazzy breaks, afro & latin grooves with a hint of hope for spring. Stevie Cox - Jecht Shot EP

Having released her debut EP on the label in 2022 with the Daydreamer EP, a collaboration with Fossil Archive, Stevie Cox returns Remmah with her latest solo EP.

Following on the heels of February’s Expansion EP for Optimo Music, ‘Jecht Shot’ is a JRPG-influenced  dose of melodic drum & bass that combines her burgeoning production talents with the rhythmic sensibilities she’s honed through her residencies at Glasgow’s Sub Club and La Cheetah.  

Packaged with the title track is the trancey deep space acid roller ‘Midnight With DC’, and a remix of ‘Jecht Shot’ by Cooper Saver, the Canada-based Californian producer with prior releases on Live At Robert Johnson, Hivern Discs and Internasjonal.  His rework moulds the original’s breaks into a hypnotically meditative cut that would have felt perfectly at home on Warp’s Artificial Intelligence compilations.

Double Down

This mix is a the first hour of my set from a really fantastic party in Berlin called, 'Buttons'. I got to play the 10AM - 2PM shift on Sunday so the first hour was a really interesting mix of fresh faced partygoers and people who had been raging for hours all weekend. Hope you guys enjoy.

Life films us exactly. Our experience of it, though, lies beyond images and descriptions. Emotions, coming in irrational flashes, are non-figurable. We lose our little connection to them very quickly. We look for forms with this in mind : so they can take us to meet the subconscious. Chain reaction was a sublabel of Basic Channel founded in 1995. Peter Kuschnereit aka Substance, René Löwe aka Vainqueur, Torsten Pröfrock aka Various artists and Resilent, Andy Mellwig, Thomas Köner aka Porter Ricks, Gerhard Behles, Robert Henke, Torsten Pröfrock aka Monolake formed some of the artists of the now defunkt label.

Chain reactions is a mix tribute to the label / 1995-2003, it is influenced by glitch techno, dub and ambient. Sounds of CR are captured within tiny fragments of time and then within one’s mindspace. I think it’s important to play this mix on a decent system so you can really hear and feel the interactions between the delays, the warm basslines and the soundscapes that surrounds them.

Unsere Gefühle, unsere Affekte – sie strömen in irrationalen Momentaufnahmen auf uns ein und sind in ihrer Intensität nicht messbar. Schnell entgleiten uns diese Wahrnehmungen in ihrer Flüchtigkeit.
