Drumcode has become a label synonymous with some of the most-cutting edge and forward-thinking techno over the last 20 years. Their artists include both emerging and established names, and one of those well recognised is Enrico Sangiuliano. Now announcing the very first concept album of his career.

The prolific Italian producer has been catapulted into the limelight after the runaway success of his past releases, and now Biomorph is born. 

A very special concept album designed to take the listener on a journey of evolution. A musical adaptation describing how biological and technological advances over numerous generations of time have all started from the same first step in our own biological journey.

Divided into 4 parts, Organisms opens with atmospheric tones, gradually blending complex textures and timbres to begin the evolutional process. The beginning of this section combines full sounding arrangements before stripping it all back to basics. From here it dissolves into the atmosphere. Organisms then progresses into a break-beat influenced, down tempo track using synths to add complexity to the straight, broken rhythms.

Galactic, futuristic elements are found in both tracks in Cosmic Forces. Upbeat, groovy, electronic synths resonate, before ‘Hidden T’ brings the tension to get things pumped up with stratospheric swirls and twirls to lay down one of the most mind meltingly deep drops.

Metamorphosis is mysterious, its opening beat is a deep and piercing tone that sends the listener into a sensory awareness of their surroundings before breaking into a fully charged, techno track, with Enrico’s trademark sounds and textures.

All evolution has an ending.

Two Probabilities shows the positive, starting out evocative and emotional, with a gentle harmony, gazing towards a ‘New Dawn’. On the other side of the spectrum lies the negative. This is influenced with a rhythm that articulates the beat of death, mathematical, cold and metallic in texture, it shows the unsustainability of its nature, with a hectic, anxious break beat influenced ending.

Influential DJ, producer and label owner Adam Beyer takes to his own Drumcode imprint to deliver his latest peak-time floor-filler in the collaboration with Bart Skils titled 'Your Mind'.

If you’ve caught a set from Adam Beyer recently, chances are you remember this track causing mayhem. ‘Your Mind’ is a banging new collaboration with Dutch talent Bart Skils, and it absolutely caught the attention of his Timewarp, Awakenings and Ultra set audiences with its haunting chorus chant. 

'Your Mind' is released via Drumcode on June 18.

To say Michael Klein has been on a roll as of late would be a gross understatement. Besides being a man of many creative talents, Klein has been pushing his unique and undeniably infectious sound to the masses as a DJ and producer all while running his own BLK DRP imprint, his platform for releasing only his originals. With huge releases and remixes on Second State, Octopus and most recently Dense & Pika’s highly lauded Kneaded Pains label, Michael Klein is fully en route on his trajectory to solidifying himself among the industry's elite. So, to be the platform for him to present his debut album ’Snapshot’ is an honor for us here at Second State.
Over the course of eleven stunning tracks, Klein flexes his proverbial muscles showcasing his prowess for top notch productions that reveal a mastermind of modern Techno. From the very start Klein exhibits a maturity most take decades to achieve. Aptly titled ‘Boot Sequence’ the album commences with a euphoric tinged, broken beat excursion into the vast spaces of sonic wonder, setting the stage for the array of dance floor destruction to come. ‘Flashes In Your Eyes’ takes the baton and subtly, yet forcefully dives into full fledged elation as percussion is used with minimum direction letting a growing acid line takethe lead. Following suit, yet adding a touch more drums, ‘Dismantled Structure’ ups the ante and delivers a high octane ride laying the ground work for ‘Them Psychos’, where Klein’s trademark grooves take center stage. With an acute attention to detail the album builds slowly, track by track, adding one more element or variation to continue the climatic ascension when ‘Dirty Daddy’ steps into focus relying heavily on crisp, reeling percussion and a sinister low end rumble creeping up the spine.
Eloquently taking a turn mid album, ‘Drink Those’ dives down into dreamy territories where melody steps front and center before the track ‘100’ veers into darker enclaves with an ominous lead and hypnotic percussives. They say “patience is a virtue“ – and it couldn’t be more true as Klein has saved the peak time antics for this point in the LP with the monster cut ‘Wall Licker’, before the reverb heavy ‘Glitter Bath’ takes over with not much more than just an incredible groove where the drums do all the work. Nearing the end of the album, Klein takes it back to where it all began with the ethereal setting of malevolent aural display of broken rhythms and deep space sonics on ‘So Far To Go’. Finally closing the album, the absolutely gorgeous ambient trek into the etheron appropriately named ‘Dissolving’ leaves his mark with subtle yet powerful washes of aural shimmers and a warm embrace of plush emotions.
With an absolutely timeless aesthetic, Michael Klein has delivered a monumental amalgamation of a debut album with ‘Snapshot’... and there is no doubt in his intentions: to create immortal orchestras of electronic artifacts. We’re back again with another SUM package, and this release sees us stepping into our third year of churning out cuts from a variety of names spanning fresh faces to established artists.
SUM 5 kicks off with newcomer ALO’s fierce ‘Return’ where chaos crescendos over an unrelenting bass line before Christopher Lawrenz delivers a wild groover with enough energy to blow the roof off any club with his cut ‘ASIN’. Heavy hitter and man of the hour Eats Everything steps up next and provides another rave anthem on ‘Rollathonic’ before Housemeister’s ‘Am Puls der Zeit’ takes matters into deeper and more dramatic territories with shimmering synthesizers and lush harmonics which couldn’t be farther from JNO’s ‘Generation ID’ which focuses on heavy, fast paced percussion to take the club to the next level. Diving into more sinister territories, Klangkuenstler’s ‘Continuum’ is an intense ride not for the faint of heart whereas Lerio Corrado’s ‘Parabellum’ keeps the tough edge but balances it expertly with just the right amount of debauchery. Martin Eyerer follows suit with a chaotic, yet insanely euphoric blinder with ‘Mineral’ before Niereich & Linus Quick deliver a massive tune with the perfect Rave throwback vibe on ‘Secrets’. Next to last is the gorgeous, energetic and instantly unforgettable ‘Long Awaited Dawn’ from Paride Saraceni before Ryan McKay’s pulse pounding ‘Acid Control’ wraps up SUM 5 with a bang.
