Since the late 90s, The AudioBloc’s Rtch Kallan, self-described as a passionate, enthusiast first, has been honing his skills and obsession. Based in the north of the UK, his musical tastes have been shaped by an understanding of many genres. From the hardcore scene, trance, garage and drum and bass scenes that gripped the underground venues in the cities around him. Rtch Kallan’s new project is attempting to re-energise the city where he played his first set at 16 years of age, Sheffield. A found space, set in the backdrop of Sheffield distant industrial past. 

The 6AM mix is a personal selection of favourites including teasers from The AudioBloc future catalogue + virtually dug music. Tracks from Rtch Kallan, Hans Bouffmyhre, Insical, Andre Keller, Marck D, Matt Ess, Abstrakt (UK) and Lunatique Sublime to name a few. 

Rtch Kallan always prefers to take the listener on a journey, and never relies on playing banger after banger. The double drops inspired by Drum and Bass, to blending 3 or 4 tracks to create something new.  

Expect high energy, lots of half bar grooves, sometimes old school stabs, blending into something more melodic.

The hypnotic thrust of the opening, title track on JSPR’s Mainframe Boogie EP introduces some of the hardest sounds we’ve heard to date from the Rotterdam based producer.

"Mainframe Boogie" is a thumping, warehouse-ready cut that sounds tailor-made for Second State. “Blossom” dials back the aggression slightly, utilizing bleepy synths and pealing, high-pitched pads to temper a pounding backdrop. JSPR moves into darker terrain on “Parasite”, a track filled with all the paranoia and dread that the title inspires. Unsettling keys through the mid-section see tension levels rise further on this moody, pulsing track. “Fire” might be the highest energy track on the release. Whipping synths, blaring sirens and arpeggiating keys come together in a broody, storming cut to close out the EP.

After a string of successful releases on Pig & Dan’s Elevate label and with an impressive pedigree that includes a release on Richie Hawtin’s M-nus, Pan-Pot are delighted to welcome JSPR into the Second State fold.
