Articulate Sound are a midlands based, digital label that are at the forefront of the UK underground bass scene. Set out to give undiscovered, upcoming artists a platform and foundation to showcase their talent, and to look for individual styles and sounds you won’t hear anywhere else. Articulate specialise in UK Bass, UK Funky and Breaks however covering all spectrums of the scene, from Bassline to Grime they have it covered.

Founded in 2015 as a promotional Soundcloud channel, they then went on to release a succession of free compilations, featuring artists from all over the world such as Landis LaPace and Cellardore to name a few. In the closing months of 2016, they then took it a step further and released a huge joint collaboration with renowned promoter, distributor and publisher Pack London. Although only being a free channel, Articulate Sounds releases have received support from the likes of BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 1Xtra, Rinse, Represent and Radar amongst many others.

Along with releasing over 140 tracks for over 70 different artists, Articulate Sound have now also launched their own events, showcasing their extensive roster and some of the best upcoming artists in the underground scene, with TC4, Darkzy and Murder He Wrote headlining thus far.

In 2017, Articulate grew even stronger, hitting number 1 in the UKG and Breakbeat charts with their debut official release by Daze Prism, receiving support from the likes of My Nu Leng, DJ EJ and many others and even getting called “one of the most consistent curator channels in modern broken and bass music” by Juno Download. Articulate then went onto hit number 1 again for Doc Zee’s debut release “Feel Free”, which has since been featured in the likes of DJMag and Dummy. Finishing off 2017 Articulate released their final EP of the year titled “PINK GUN” by Ivo and went onto be called “One of our standout labels of 2017 for a top draw project” by Juno Download themselves. 2018 has been no calmer for Articulate, already releasing Spectrum’s debut single “Resonate” in January aswell as having releases lined up for the next 12 months that are sure to cook up a storm, it’s fair to say Articulate are not a label to sleep on.

In 2017, Articulate have now expanded further continuing the high level of growth they already have. With shows lined up, the release of Articulate Records featuring EP’s from some of the biggest names in the underground Bass scene, Articulate are not a label to sleep on.

DJ Q isn’t just part of the UKG and Bassline story, he wrote key chapters and now he’s setting the record straight with Foundations, his definitive return to the raw sound that shaped him.
Q is a pioneer whose imprint on UK underground dance music runs deeper than most. Nearly two decades in the game have cemented him as one of the most technically gifted, respected, and versatile DJs in the country full stop.
From the breakout anthems to the charting “You Wot!”, Q brought Northern Bassline to national attention at a time when most of the industry ignored it. He didn’t follow trends, he built them. As a founding member of TQD (alongside Flava D and Royal-T), he helped modernise and globalise UK Garage, showing a new generation what the sound could become.
His 2022 album Est. 2003 featuring legends like Todd Edwards, proved Q’s production legacy stands shoulder to shoulder with his DJing. Q’s influence cuts through multiple eras, scenes, and sounds.
But behind the decks is where he becomes unmistakable. Known for lightning-fast blends, genre-bending selections, flawless 4-deck technique, and an unmatched energy, Q has headlined everywhere from Glastonbury to Boomtown. He’s the DJ’s DJ! The one your favourite DJ watches from the side of the stage.
And now, with his new project Foundations, Q returns to the essence: no gimmicks, no filters just pure Bassline from someone who has lived it since day one. It’s a celebration of the culture he helped build, a reminder of where the sound comes from, and a statement of where it’s going next.
Authentic, uncompromising, and still setting the standard DJ Q remains one of the true pillars of UK club music.
