We follow up our last premiere with a remix from the mighty WheelUP!  Shout out to Re:Fill & Cognitiva Records!

of the full release of ‘Cycles’ by the Jazzfunk duo Re:Fill, Cognitiva shine a light on the incredible remixes that feature on the LP, with the reworks coming from some fine talents indeed.

The sound that Re:Fill are able to conjure up is one of rhythmic complexity, simmering melodic sequences, and an overall feeling of quietly building euphoria that only comes from Jazz laden dance grooves. To assist with the overall vibe of their debut LP, Sofatalk, WheelUP and Ben Hauke were recruited to put their spins on the cuts ‘Impulse’ and ‘Stillness’, and the goods they serve up are truly spectacular. ‘Impulse’ sees both Sofatalk and WheelUP working their magic, with the Sofatalk remix adding in a cosmic tinge to compliment the already wide array of chordal tones, with emphasis placed on the movement between density and spatial vacuums which makes the movement through the phases extra enjoyable. WheelUP takes things down to a saunter, but what a saunter it is, with the feeling captured here one of rhythmic excellence, with the keys enveloping the listener in what could only be described as a blissful bath of melody.

To wrap things up, Ben Hauke really shifts perspectives on ‘Stillness’, with the hazy piano fuelled experience found in the original turbo drived upon a two step leaning beat. The delicate piano that makes the original so intoxicating remains as a rhythmic motif, with plenty of intriguing elements thrown into the mix that keep the mind yearning for more, whilst the beat gets the feet stepping until the early hours.

Three remixes, three differing interpretations, one big wetting of the appetite. This excellent trio only hints at the wider picture, so get locked in until the big day arrives!

[PREMIERE] Re:Fill - Cycles (WheelUP Remix)

Based between Rome and London. Stefano is conservatory trained and raised on the music of Weather Report and Azymuth, with his recent musical output being fully supported by UK music legend, Colin Curtis. 
Stefano has been a go-to session player in many projects across multiple genres - from jazz to funk, reggae, and pop, and in 2017, he launched the ‘Big Beat’ trio who blended pure jazz with new synth sounds and syncopated drum patterns. Later, in 2020, Stefano teamed up with the drummer, Gaetano De Carli to form Re:Fill. Since then, the duo have taken their music to a further level and developed a brace of imaginative and complex grooves. Gaetano provides a rich musical background to combine with Stefano’s soulful synth-work, balancing the old world and the contemporary. Their first record, ‘Cycles’, was released in June 2022 and features important collaborations with heavy-hitters from the UK’s DJ-producer scene, Ben Hauke and WheelUp.
In October 2022 Stefano released his first solo Ep “Unreachable Galaxy”. The EP showcases Stefano’s diverse palette of sounds where he effortlessly blends a flowing broken beat rhythm section, next level hip hop, future jazz, latin and funk throughout the entire project. 
Engaged in collaborations with various artists, DJs, and labels like Z Records, Stefano continued his solo career in 2023 with releases such as the bossa-infused 'Barra Nova' (7-inch) and the spiritual jazz EP, "A Kind of Prayer."
Entering 2024, Stefano is involved in new projects, with two tracks from the "Unreachable Galaxy" EP set to feature in Jazz Dance Fusion Vol.4 compiled by Colin Curtis, out on Z Records in March.

Michal Poncar started his playing in 1993 under a name DJ Face. In that times it was just in small places near Prague. As an eager Radio 1 listener he met Béla Némeshegyi and very soon he started to write reviews for Béla..s Pareniste server under a nickname Myclick.

In 1999 he was also contributing with reviews of new records to Tripmag magazine thanks to Honza Babka who was editor in chief in that time. One year later, after his work for Trance.cz server, Mellow with Dan Kafka offered him a collaboration with Techno.cz.

After reviews with unbelievable 13.000 types he is enjoying writting of voluminous reports from the events he took part in. He is preparing news from the world of dance music for this website and publishes DJ beginners..sets. Since 2004 you can hear him two times a week on
Akropolis Internet Radio in programmes Techno.cz on Akropolis Radio and Techno.cz In Da Mix where he is interviewing DJs and mixing live sets right in studio.

House in all its periods was his favourite. But there was basic change at the end of 2001 and the beginning of 2002. Then he was contacted by <a href="http://www.lucasross.net" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Lucas Ross</a> the guitar player, Mataro purchased electronic percussion and Face 2 Face project had got its roughcast. Every performance took place with different guests and with different repertory. Five musician formation Face 2 Face with records and live instruments combination was performing beside small clubs also at Sazava Fest, Creamfields and several times in Roxy Club.

DJ Face currently enjoys first of all nu disco, deep house, dubby house and minimal house and an ideal performance is to him 
a nights Unplugged @ House boat U Bukanyra, House 4 Adults @ 2. patro with DJ Cubik, Groove Bar and Moovement with DJ Diom, Bar v Krymsky with MC Manda, Luft Cafe and Moje Muza with Pavel Aeling and Namax.


At the beginning of 2010 the circle closes and his big dream comes true... Side by side with his friends who he called about his musical wishes to the Radio 1 in the mid of 90th,
