BHM 2022 #1 Cmone - Black To The Future

We are happy to announce Shinina from Switzerland as our next DJ 
for this years BlackOurStoryMonth 2022 in collaboration with Decolonize Cologne. 

Shinina stands by the fact that she’s a newcomer in the DJ scene. However, it doesn’t stop her from presenting her musical knowledge in vinyl-only sets. Soul, Hip Hop, Electronica, Pop, Rock – Shinina is full of surprise and knows no limits.

Shinina steht dazu, ein blutiger Anfänger in der DJ-Szene zu sein. Das hält sie aber nicht davon ab, ihr musikalisches Repertoire in ihren Vinyl-Only Sets zu präsentieren. Soul, Hip Hop, Electronica, Pop, Rock – Shinina steckt voller Überraschungen und kennt keine Grenzen.

Wir freuen uns sehr unsere nächste DJ Carool präsentieren zu dürfen. Carool steht bereits seit mehr als 10 Jahren hinter den Decks. Als leidenschaftliche Sammlerin, die bereits Mitte der Neunziger Jahre ihre ersten Hip Hop Platten kaufte, legt die Leipzigerin auch heute noch ausschließlich mit Vinyl auf. 
Ihre Sets bieten stets einen frischen Mix aus entspanntem 90ies Hip Hop, zuckersüßem Neo Soul sowie melodischen Lofi-, Jazzhop- und Future Beats.
 
In ihrem „Identity“ Mix zeigt Carool ihre ganz eigene Interpretation des #BlackOurStory Month und nimmt die Zuhörer*innen mit auf eine musikalische Reise durch Schwarze Lebensrealitäten der letzten 25 Jahre.
 
Carool ist Teil des Leipziger BiPOC Kollektivs „Music of Color“, die unter anderem wöchentliche Radioshows und wechselnde Veranstaltungen organisieren, immer unter dem Motto: „by the Community for the Community“.

We are really thrilled to present our next Guest DJ Carol to you. 
For more than 10 years Carool stands behind the decks. She is a passionate vinyl collector who bought her first Hip Hop records in the mid 90s.
Her strictly vinyl sets always offer a fresh mix of relaxed 90s Hip Hop, sweet Neo
Soul and melodic Lofi, Jazz Hop as well as Future Beats.
In her exclusive "Identity" mix, Carool shows us her very own interpretation of
#BlackOurStory Month. She takes the listeners on a journey that represents Black experiences of the last 25 years.
Carool is part of the BIPOC collective "Music of Color" based in Leipzig, which among other things organize weekly radio shows and rotating events. Their motto is: "By the Community for the Community".

Alliye was born in Dar Es salaam, Tanzania. He is currently engaged as project and rapport manager at the Malaika Beach & Schools project in Kigamboni, @malaikabeachclub. @dhikrima describes himself as a "Music Lover and Nature Convervative". Check out the #BlackHistoryMonth Celebration Mix he put together especially for the occasion: Big Up!

Ayawa (she / her), aka CJ, aka Chimene, aka Amanda, is currently studying media and cultural studies in Düsseldorf. Ayawa is also a DJ, event organizer, 1/3 of Confused and a part of the YAYA_Amalopa collective
from Wuppertal. Through the YAYA parties, which sweetened many people's lives before Corona times, and her love for 2000 R&B, Female Rap and Afro House, Ayawa found the way to Djing. As a supporting DJ for the artist
Kaleo Sansaa and playing DJ sets for the Schwarzes Haus in Düsseldorf, she is not only to be found in Wuppertal. Ayawa's sets are filled with sweet 2000s R'n'B love, bad bitch vibes, and booty shakes that make the hearts beat faster in the club.

With Mix #5 "Baby Joy" by CJ, this year's #BHM comes to an end. We deliberately put the last release on March 1 to express that Black History goes beyond the month of February and is not limited to a few days a year.

Initially, we were not sure how appropriate it would be to continue this programme in light of the current events.
We finally agreed that the intention we set for this cooperation in the beginning rings even truer now: we hope all the more that the music can give you a little warmth, joy or even distraction. Stay in solidarity, stay critical and

On the occasion of the Black History Month 2022, the mixtape series „Selectricity“ collaborated with „Decolonize Cologne“, an initiative founded by three historians, enriching their work with a musical debate among Black DJ’s and Artists.

Since then, the collaboration exists. For more to come. . .
