"A Soundwalk Through Budapest" is an auditory representation of a field-recording session in Budapest on February 16th, 2022. This sonification of the city is created by several recorded one-shots and ambiences, placed in chronological order, resulting in this soundwalk concept. Experience a blend between realistic urban sounds and a surreal soundscape composition. This track is part the record "Buda's Barrels", released under Sem Zeeman's organic dance alias https://soundcloud.com/okin-omis.

The soundwalk starts in the elevator of the apartment complex located on Király Utca. As we exit the building, we are greeted by various street ambiences and daytime sounds. These ambiences form the basis of the intro, interludes and outro in "Buda’s Barrels" and "Madách Imre," which can be found on the same record.
As tourists from a country with a different currency, the abundance of available ATMs in the city is really useful. Along the way, OKIN-OMIS noticed that each ATM has a different pitch, timbre and processing. As the street ambiences evolve, its supported by these authentic sonic pulses from several ATMs.

The second location we arrive at is the Danube River. We are on a boat tour to capture the city’s illuminated landmarks, such as the Chain Bridge, Buda Castle District, and the Hungarian Parliament. The rumbling engine of the boat and the sound of moving water are accompanied by classical music and multilingual speeches, which are captured from the audio guide on the tour as a representation of tourism in this bustling city.

After the boat tour, we once again arrive on the city streets. Budapest, with almost 1.8 million residents, is under constant development, which can be heard as construction noises dominate the street ambiences. As we continue walking, the construction sounds gradually fade away as we arrive at Madách Imre út. On this street, we find several empty barrels. Each barrel has a different timbre and resonance, which can be heard in the presented hits. These one-shot samples also form the main percussive framework of other two tracks, "Buda’s Barrels" and "Madách Imre.”

As the barrels slowly disappear, our soundwalk continues at the tram station and then leads us to Budapest Airport, which slowly transitions to the flight back home to Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam.

Odile Nyx is a DJ/Producer based in Athens. She has participated in various clubs and festivals in Athens such as PliskeenFest alongside KA:AST, Marie Montexier and more. In 2021 she released her first EP Fractured that would be discribed as a hybrid elecronic soundscape formin in a metropolitan womb. Her preferences are accompanied by harsh beats with a glimpse of harmonic melody from IDM to Techno. She also hosts her own show at Onassis Stegi Radio.

This EP emerges as the latest drop from VūMantra Records, a collaboration between Vū and Nigh/T\mare, well known for their dark and abyssal deep productions. Within its confines, a sonic landscape unfolds, blending gritty industrial beats with ritualistic undertones. Across four tracks raw visceral energy pulsates, each piece imbued with its own distinct vibe. The first track “Portale” by Nigh/T\mare sets the mood with an orchestra of merciless percussion and faint melodies. It is followed by Vū’s “Cruda” which accelerates the tempo, playing frenetic Arabic percussions on odd rhythms surmounted by his eerie voice echoing in the distance. To complete the EP the 2 artists remix each other’s tracks adding darkness to already pitch-black canvases. A malevolent obscurity is followed by a sentimental melancholy drifting towards a deep journey into the introspection and the subconscious. It constantly emerges into the horrific and ritualistic soundscape of cryptic techno, of ancient tribal images, and of industrial dystopian visions, all melancholy is then shattered for having embraced evilness.
Giuseppe Sciretti, better known as Nigh/T\mare Alias, is an Italian DJ, producer, and live performer who is based in Puglia (South Italy). In 2017, he released a solo EP on the Bulgarian label DVNTT, and the following year, he made his vinyl debut with "Hypnagogia" on Thrènes records after also releasing music on labels like Several Minor Promises, Voidance, Depth Request, Borders Of Known, Blame Rec, VūMantra Records. In 2021, he released his first 2x12" album, "Katharsis," on the label that is now called Thrènes, and in 2022, he released "Ceremony" on Forbidden Teachings, which led to numerous collaborations with international musicians like Pact Infernal, Torn Relics, Alexey Volkow, LAIR, Prophàn, Killawatt, and many others.

Vū
Vince Gagliardi, better known by his stage name Vū, is a music producer of ethnic electronic music and experimental dark techno from Berlin. His style has been compared to artists like Muslimgauze, Tzusing and Demdike Stare. 
He is also the founder of the label “Vūmantra Records”, co-founder of the label “Modern Bön” and creator of the audiovisual project “The Nent” (Cyclic Law), well-known for its impactful A∖V live performances. Vū´s performances focus on an immersive experience creating endarkening rhythms for dystopic sub-cultures. His voice fuses with drum machines and is accompanied by live percussion, which pulls the audience into the present moment and creates a shamanic vibe.
Some of Vū’s tracks have been released on Pact Infernal’s label "Altar", Borders of Known (GE), Dark Alchemy (UK), Voidance (DE), Elektro Tribe (DE), Furanum Records (DE), Area Z (FR) and more.
In the past few years, Vū has performed live at clubs and festivals such as OHM Berlin, KitKatClub, About Blank, Mensch Meier ( with the Queer techno label SUBVERTED ), and Lunchmeat Festival 2020 ( see link below) , where he was the opening act for SOPHIE’s last ever performance.
