K.K. Bossa (Chiptune Mix) - Animal Crossing

This was a monolith of a track for me to pull together in Famitracker, but it is done!

This is essentially a remix of a remix...originally from Space Harrier. This remix is based on the variant used in the Japanese Master System BIOS v2.1, where the tune is much cleaner, and personally, easier listening.

SEGA Master System JP BIOS 2.1 (Space Harrier)

One of my favourite Final Fantasy tracks. I was disappointed with the other Chiptune interpretations of this track so I had to throw my one into the mix!

I admit, I cheated a little. I've got two Triangle channels going here. I mixed them both into the final mixdown through Audition.

You're Not Alone - Final Fantasy IX

I felt like there was a lack of decent chiptuning of this track, so I thought I should create one myself! This is the result!

It's the first time I've experimented in changing the tempo in the middle of a track. Feedback is welcome on this!

As the track was a very, very simple loop, I thought I'd throw in a bit of variety, letting the track build then fade away again.

Tutorial [Original, VRC6]

This track is dedicated to Mr. Satoru Iwata, former president of Nintendo, who passed away earlier today (or yesterday, since this was uploaded after midnight). It's a cover of one of the most beautiful songs from one of his greatest projects: Earthbound.

For those who don't know, Satoru Iwata, before becoming president of Nintendo, worked at HAL Laboratory as a programmer. One of the projects he worked on was Shigesato Itoi's magnum opus Earthbound. At some point in 1993, the game was in danger of being dropped due to code that was horribly optimized, it was a complete mess. In comes Satoru Iwata, who rewrote basically the entire game and made it actually work. Were it not for Iwata, this magnificent game likely wouldn't have ever made it to market. 

Other accomplishments include porting a huge amount of code for Pokemon Stadium over to the N64, supposedly without any reference documents, as well as developing a compression system that allowed Gamefreak to compress the entirety of Johto down to fit Kanto into Gold and Silver. Yes, you read that right. Iwata was responsible for two of the best Pokemon games being so huge. 

As he was a programmer though, and not a musician, this only indirectly links to him. It would probably be a more apt tribute if the great Hip Tanaka were to pass, but thankfully he's still alive and kicking. No, this tribute is based on a track from a game that he was involved in. Still an amazing song from an amazing game though. This is the music that plays during the finale of the game, after the final boss, but before the credits roll. The credits music is a variation of the Eight Melodies theme that plays throughout the game, while this song's melody is first heard in, I believe the Fourside theme, if not earlier. 

Anyways, enough rambling. 

RIP Satoru Iwata, 1959-2015.

Of course, the game never came to fruition. But when I first downloaded Famitracker I thought "hey what if it actually was a game, what would the songs sound like," and that's why this song exists.
