Offshore is a song by British electronic dance music artist Chicane. It was released as his debut single from the album Far from the Maddening Crowds on 2 December 1996.The song reached #5 in the United States on Billboards Hot Dance Club Songs chart, #12 in Ireland and #14 in the United Kingdom.
Offshore" was re-released on 1 September 1997 as "Offshore '97". A bootleg was created by Australian DJ Anthony Pappa who made a mashup of "Offshore (Disco Citizens Mix)" with the vocals from the Power Circle song "A Little Love, a Little Life". Originally a bootleg (mixed by Dave Seaman on Renaissance: The Mix Collection Part 4) it was turned into an official release, credited to "Chicane with Power Circle". Rob started getting passionate about house music from his early teens. He was initially tuning into Stu Allan's mix show at weekends where he would begin to educate his virgin ears with what i would describe as audible magic. Rob had a DJ's ethos from day one as he would live record the tunes he liked onto cassette whilst doing on the fly edits to remove the advert breaks.
 
As his knowledge and experience of music increased, he found himself becoming naturally inquisitive about the technical side of mixing and was fascinated at how an atmosphere can be manipulated, altered and changed just by spinning plastic and tweaking a few nobs and faders. This eventually lead him to getting a pair of Technics 1210's about 15 years ago and the rest is history.
 
In the beginning his main passion was for old skool and classic house from early 90's, however his musical taste has since matured to genres including progressive house, electro and breakbeat.
 
Plenty of DJ's and producers have been a huge influence on Rob and you will hear a lot of their material featured on his mixes. Rob would like to take this opportunity to drop a few names and pay his respects to the following:-
