During my high school emo phase, I listened to a lot of songs like this. Paramore has always been one of my favorite bands. I’ve always aspired to be as vocally talented as Haley Williams. She’s by far my favorite female vocalist.

Why I like It:
I heard this song a few years back when Taylor Swift added it to one of her playlists. I’m not much of a country person, but I liked the song. It gave me “a day at Six Flags,” “day at the lake,” or “driving with the windows down” vibes. Again, I’m not super into country music. But of the newer artists, I do like Kelsea Ballerini, Maren Morris, and Kacey Musgraves.

Some Background:

I wrote this the day before I recorded, and thought I would try to record a version to post. I'll make another once I decide on the words and clean it up more. Recently, I've had a ton of inspiration. I've got so many songs I need to clean up and go through. I'm forcing myself to complete them.

I was inspired by the person I’ve been seeing in my dreams. They are always the same, and I remember seeing them. But when I wake up, I can’t remember how they looked. This sounds like a cliche or something, but it’s true. I have dreams where we walk and hold hands. Sometimes by the beach, a river, or in the forest on a hiking path. Sometimes we sit in a coffee shop or kitchen and laugh. Once, I even had a dream that we were walking and holding hands, but he kept wanting to do something weird with them. It frustrated me because he wouldn’t hold my hand normally. It makes me sad because recently I haven’t seen them much. If I do, it’s a sad dream. We were on a bridge, and it collapsed. We were chased by people and they got him. One of the times, they got me. I’m no dream expert, but I do want to know who I’m dreaming about. I’m pretty sure they’re a bit taller than me, have dark hair and eyes, and tattoos somewhere. That’s pretty general, but those are things I remember seeing. I don’t remember where the tattoos were or what they are. I don’t remember how their eyes looked, just that they’re dark. And, I only know the height thing because I remember complaining I thought they’d be taller.

Why I Like It:
This song is one I heard while I was driving to my school. I had a class that started around 6:30, so I was usually driving during golden hour. I would take this back way, that wove through a bit of the countryside. It was one lane going each way. I would listen to this song while driving to my class. I remember one time I saw a few deer snacking on some grass while sitting at a light. There were quite a few places with cows, and they didn’t quite blend in with the longhorns. I also would drive by a horse sanctuary and a farm that had two llamas. The horse sanctuary would put little sweaters/blankets on them in the winter. The llamas would always be lying down with their heads straight up. It looked like they didn’t have legs. But, I found out, they are like donkeys/mules. They help protect livestock from coyotes and other predators. #themoreyouknow

Why I Like It:
I love listening to this song while I'm driving during golden hour. I have a precious memory of sitting on the beach with my family, while this was playing on my phone. We buried my dad in sand and laughed as a family with no cares. It was beautiful, like this song.

Why I Like It:
I love how simple this song is. It is something I would want to slow dance to with my future partner. I always picture myself dancing in the kitchen with someone when I hear a good song. If I can’t do something like that to a song, then I usually skip it. I also got to see this performed live when they went on tour a few years ago. That concert was a religious experience. Those types of concerts are always the best.

Some Background:
This past month I’ve been busy taking a class on songwriting with some basics in production. I created three different songs that are rough demos. I decided that since the class is over I would post them!

This was the first song I worked on. I fiddled with Logic for a while and already wrote the lyrics the night before my class officially started. You can tell it’s very beginner, but I’m still proud of the work I did. I don’t know if I’ll ever come back to it. It’s a nice song. And, I’m proud of working hard to get better at doing what I love.

Some Background:
Previously- This past month I’ve been busy taking a class on songwriting with some basics in production. I created three different songs, that are basically rough demos. I decided that since the class is over I would post them! Check out the other songs I did called, “Moment” and “Among Us.”

This was the last song I worked out. I wanted to experiment with something SUPER out of my comfort zone. I don’t do cutesy well, and thought I’d give it a try. The things I write aren’t so happy and boppy, and my voice doesn’t really fit the vibe. But, I did my best! I was super inspired by BTS, as I have been a big fan of theirs. My mom is a new ARMY, and I recently ran into a couple of other K-Pop stans while performing at my local mall. This song was inspired by them and by my love of the boys. It was a total coincidence that I took this class, but the timing worked out. Even though it still needs a lot of work, I’m happy to dedicate it to ARMY and the boys. (HAPPY BIRTHDAY JK!)

The class was a meaningful experience for me. I learned a lot about bettering my songwriting and basics in music production. I still need a lot of work on the production side, and I’m hoping to learn more in the future. I think you can tell just how far I came in a month with these songs. I’m happy with the work. We will see if I ever come back to them.

“Biased” by Serena's Daydream (HAPPY BIRTHDAY JUNG KOOK!)

Favorite Line: “All the bad days are nothing to me with you.”

Why I Like It:
This song just makes me happy. It is a simple song that gives me a warm feeling. V has such a beautiful baritone voice that has the prettiest texture to it. This song gives me the feeling of snuggling under a blanket by the fire with a warm drink. Hope I didn’t ruin it.
