Saved Records present the fourth installment of their acclaimed collection sampler series, “Collection D”. Featuring a diverse selection of artists; only two of which are close members of the Saved family, the ten-track collection welcomes a host of new friends with a heavy focus on new and emerging talent. Perfectly summing up the ethos of the label, these fresh producers unleash a collection of uncompromising, underground club-leaning bombs.

Regular Saved cohort &ME gets the collection underway with label-mates Rampa and Re.You’s fresh remix of ‘Blitz’, Sabb returns to the label following an EP earlier this year and Rob Cockerton, a permanent fixture behind the decks at Saved parties over the years, puts his first record out here. Mulletover’s Geddes makes his first appearance on Saved with the frenetic “Standup” just as rising Italian duo Macromism, New York’s Vanjee, Lancaster and Denney & Guthrie all make their Saved debuts.

Collection D has a stripped back and heady aesthetic running throughout its entirety. Jacking beats, driving basslines and pumping 303 rhythms feature heavily, creating a spine of powerful bottom end sonics. There is plenty of energy, old school vibes and a darker edge on display across the ten tacks too, making this the most underground collection of the series yet.

At a time when social media seems like a warm tide of sluice running from industry foul-mouths prone to oversharing, it comes as a strangely welcome tonic when a producer is Google-proof. Not even because there's a worry they might fall foul to an errant late-night Tweet – it's more of the pinch of mystery in the unexplained; an effusive shadow cast across their work that seems to heighten it to stranger territory.

It's this same murky intrigue that follows  U – the retiring Londoner who George Fitzgerald once met on holiday in Greece and commissioned a handful of 12"s from him immediately. He's left little mark on the internet other than a string of striking debuts on Fitzgerald's  ManMakeMusic and Alkan's  Phantasy – and now without much ado, he's back.

This time, he finds a fitting home in  Fotomachine's  Technicolour with a new EP cut of similar cloth – agile, arresting and idiosyncratic house music, frayed and crackled with mechanical distortions and whirring tape-throb. 'Easy Prayer' is our pick of the litter – a warm and glowing piece of oddball club grub, snarled up with choppy drums and strung out on plangent synths. File next to Actress or Huerco S. and cop the full 'We Decide Who Comes In' EP  here on June 29.

2013 should be a vintage year for Timo Maas. Over the next 12 months, he’ll release this, his long awaited new artist album, Lifer, featuring Mikill Pane, Placebo’s Brian Molko, U.N.K.L.E’s James Lavelle, Katie Cruel and more; he’ll celebrate 10 years as a resident at DC10 in Ibiza; welcome new artists to his Rockets & Ponies imprint, and continue to reinforce his reputation as one of German electronic music’s most colourful characters.

Prior to this, however, Timo will satisfy his first love – the dancefloor – with ‘Pop A Bubble’, his own original contribution to Cocoon’s 100th release compilation, and remixes for James Teej on Sasha’s Last Night On Earth label and Johnny Mikes on Lower East Records; reworkings that add to a remix pedigree that includes Madonna, Depeche Mode, Muse, Fatboy Slim and beyond.

For those that have followed the trajectory of Maas’ previous 2 artist albums (Loud and Pictures), Lifer contains yet more wildly divergent collaborators, from Brighton chanteuse Katie Cruel (formerly of We Fell To Earth and now signed to Rockets & Ponies), who weighs in with the haunting ‘Articulation’, the gritty rap delivered by rising one-to-watch, Mikill Pane on ‘Grown-Up’, through to Placebo singer Brian Molko’s contribution to ‘College 84’, while James Lavelle delivers a primo vocal on the dramatic ‘The Hunted’ (the only vocal he’s done outside of U.N.K.L.E). Ever at ease straddling the somewhat disparate worlds of underground electronic music culture and credible muso pop, Timo and his production partner, Santos, created Rockets & Ponies for both their own productions, and outings from the likes of Maetrik, Tobi Neumann, Riva Starr, Giorgio Roma and more. The success and variety of the label’s output has undoubtedly impacted on Lifer, giving it a broader range of influences and styles than any of his previous albums. Ron Costa is the newest signing to Trapez and a DJ and producer on the rise.He has already released an exceptional remix for Taster Peters track "Rapture" (Trapez 135) and now we have the pleasure to highlight his first solo release on Trapez. The French artist is really committed to the scene, playing all sort of clubs from what he calls the smaller clubs of the world" to top clubs. He is by all means a free thinker who does not want to limit himself to a certain style and so he is in line with artists like Akufen, Jeff Samuel Tim Green and Florian Meindl on Trapez.He has been exploring minimal, reggae, dub step and folk music and for a while now has concentrated on techno, house and dub.He mainly releases great music on his own label Potobolo but has recently also released on Sci-Tec vinyl audio alongside Dubfire, Paul Rich etc and has released remixes for Break New Soil and Great Stuff.His brand new EP for Trapez features the tracks Bazis Puzzle and Fraaz, which show his liking for the borderline of house and techno. "Bazis Puzzle" is a bassline heavy groover that swoons with its kinetic catchiness and polyrhythmic drumming. It is really the amazing sound design, funky and ear catching leads, coupled with sophisticated arrangement that make it a soulful experience for DJ and clubbers. "Fraaz" is a mesmerizing polyrhythmic DJ track, a rhythm rocker, with a fantastic stop and go feeling, a track that constantly builds up tension and releases it in its sensual breaks.
