Here is the first hour and half of my opening set for John Digweed at Bedrock LA.  The event was held at Exchange and marked the 2 year anniversary of Inception Saturdays by Insomniac Events.

Of course, nothing beats actually being there with the state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems, but hopefully this will help make you feel like you were right there on the dancefloor.

Wie und wann seid ihr zur elektronischen Musik gekommen?

Wir haben beide vor mehr als 15 Jahren angefangen, uns intensiv mit elektronischer Musik zu beschäftigen. Als wir uns kennenlernten merkten wir sofort, dass wir uns musikalisch auf der gleichen Wellenlänge befinden. Dann gründeten wir zusammen mit Christoph den Klangextase Podcast und fingen auch an, zusammen aufzulegen und Parties zu veranstalten.

Welche musikalischen Momente sind euch besonders in Erinnerung geblieben?

Unser erster öffentlicher B2B-Gig ist schon eine halbe Ewigkeit her. Damals in Kassel im K19 heizten wir dem Club so sehr ein, dass es kein Halten (und kein trockenes Shirt) mehr gab. Weder für uns noch für die Partymeute auf der Tanzfläche. Das war ein fantastisches Erlebnis!

Wo konnte man euch bisher antreffen?

Neben einigen Gigs in Kassel haben wir in Hamburg die Villa Nova und das Moiré unsicher gemacht. Auch in Matthias’ Geburtsstadt Halle haben wir bereits bei der Tag am Meer Tour im Januar ordentlich Gas gegeben. Außerdem konnte man uns im letzten Jahr auf dem UckerAlm Festival zusammen spielen sehen und hören.

Gibt es Zukunftspläne?

Es gibt keine wirklichen Pläne für die Zukunft. Aber wir werden auch weiterhin hier und da auf Festivals und in Clubs anzutreffen sein. So steht z.B. fest, dass wir wieder nach Grünz auf das Oewerall Festival kommen werden. Auch München ist bereits im Kalender eingetragen. Dort werden wir zusammen mit Christoph das Zur Gruam aufmischen. Die Hauptsache für uns ist immer, Spaß mit den Gästen zu haben und sich selbst nicht allzu ernst zu nehmen. Damit fahren wir richtig gut, und werden das auch weiter so machen!

Was damals noch ein sehnlichster Traum für den jungen Nachwuchs-DJ ist, gehört heute zu seinem elektronischen Alltag: Ob St. Petersburg, Tahiti, Bora Bora, Ibiza, Mallorca, Berlin oder Hamburg – bei diesen verträumt pulsierenden Sets und effektvollen Beats bleibt selten eine Tanzfläche leer und weil Kai geradezu zum Tanzen verführt, zählt er zu den beliebtesten DJ’s im Deephouse- und House Bereich. Mit seinem unverwechselbaren Mix aus Deephouse und  House erobert er im Jahr 2013 dann die internationale Clubszene, startet als DJ in Russland, den Balearen und sogar im Süd-Pazifik durch. Doch auch in Deutschland folgt ein entscheidender Schritt noch im gleichen Jahr: Das Weimarer Label Karera Records übernimmt von nun an sein Management, führt den Ausnahmekünstler mit den bekanntesten Clubs in der Szene zusammen und Kai wird zum unverzichtbaren Teil der Abendgestaltung zahlreicher Deephouse- und House Fans. Seither wird der DJ, der inzwischen zumindest manchmal in seiner Wahlheimat Trier zur Ruhe kommt, regelmäßig vom Berliner Club Sisyphos gebucht. Und noch eine Location scheint seit neuestem an Kai Gefallen gefunden zu haben:  Das in Toplage angesiedelte Kater Blau an der Spree, der als Nachfolger der Bar25 wohl bekannteste Club Berlins.

Indianer Legenden

Zu besonderen Anlässen und Feierlichkeiten innerhalb der Dorfgemeinschaft, 
gaben die Ältesten unseres Stammes immer sehr alte Legenden und Geschichten aus längst vergangenen Epochen zum besten. Mal erzählten sie von heroischen Häuptlingen welche im Alleingang ganze Armeen in die Knie zwangen. Ein anderes Mal berichteten sie von einer großen Dürre die unsere Lande wochenlang heimsuchte und sowohl Vegetation, Vieh und Mensch dahinraffte. Der Schrecken nahm erst sein Ende, als der weise Medizinman Aru Chak in einem dreitägigen Ritual den großen Manitou darum bat, unserem Volk Wasser regnen zu lassen. Die für mich persönlich eindrücklichste aller Geschichten war jedoch jene, über die Fähig- und Fertigkeiten unserer Vorfahren aus der Zeit ohne Namen. Damals jagten man nicht mit Pfeil und Bogen oder einer Donnerbüchse. Ganz im Gegenteil, für ihren Fleischkonsum verwendeten sie eine um einiges friedvollere Methode, als die klassische Jagd. Laut dieser durchaus phantastisch klingenden Legende versammelten sich alle Dorfbewohner einmal in der Woche auf dem großen Platz in der Dorfmitte. In einem ersten Schritt wurde das gewünschte Tier auf Stein gezeichnet. Anschließend wurden alle Stammesmitglieder darum gebeten, sich hinzulegen und die Augen zu schließen und sich vorzustellen, wie das Bison ohne Fremdeinwirkung oder menschliches zutun, wie selbstverständlich und ohne Angst direkt zwischen sie tratt. Jeder einzelne sollte sich ganz bewusst auf dieses Szenario konzentrieren, um so, ohne eine anstrengende und nervenaufreibende Jagd das gewünschte Ziel zu erreichen. Der Medizimann trommelte dazu einen gleichbleibenden Rhtymus. Dann nach ungefähr 12 Stunden des fokussierten visualisierens hatten sie Erfolg und das Bison betratt die Dorfmitte und verharrte dort. Es schien als wäre das Tier in einer Art Trance und ohne Bewusstsein über seine derzeitige Situation. Mit einem Schnitt wurde das Bison nun getötet. Die Tat vollbracht bedankten sich alle bei dem Tier und und verzehrten respektvoll sein Fleisch.
Ich frage mich, warum wir nicht heutzutage ebenso vorgehen wie die "Alten Weisen" aus vergangenen Äonen.
