LLLC Party - Miss Bean B2B Seul Ensemble @ Brasserie Communale 01/2024

For this episode of JOINTHECAST, some members of the LLLCLUB gathered on a Sunday evening to play a sonic game of Dungeons And Dragons. While the rules of the game itself remain pretty much the same; adventurers exploring dungeons, fighting monsters and looting treasures, a sonic element of warfare have been added to the classic 1974 roleplay game. 
For this occasion, Seul Ensemble composed an entire sonic ecosystem and invented rules to include a totally new element of sound composition to the game : a computer with Ableton open acts like the board and players take turns on it to sculpt sounds depending on the rooms they&amp#39;re in, the monsters they attack and the spells they use. Each sound is then printed onto the sonic canvas of this singular world, and it&amp#39;s by their accumulation and the use of sonic tactics that the players create a unique objet sonore non-identifiable. 
The idea behind all this is to use the game as a vector for a multiplayer sound composition, gathering experts from the sound domain and people who have never ever opened a DAW, or created music. Transmission of knowledge and unlikely collaboration are at the core of this project, and the immersion inside a fantastic environment allows the participants to dwell in their own imagination, expending the boundaries or their own sonic capabilities in a horizontal way. 
This podcast acts as the remains of this game, compiling moments of horizontal narrative, intense laughter and sound mangling. It is not designed to be understood fully, as this form is imperfect to grasp the full flavor of the game, it is more a way to advocate for its existence, and maybe even recruit new players, because more games will occur...

For my new show, I will be diving in a shoreless sonic continuum. 
Once every two months I&amp#39;ll be on my own, trying to draw connections between genres, eras, intentions, or even feelings, to emphasize what appears to me as logical relations between sounds. From &ampquot;Gorillaz-type beats&ampquot; to Torchouze Disco, I&amp#39;ll try to suggest a sensitive approach to mixing.
Every other months, I will be joined by friends and foes from around the continuum, to get their perspective on how they approach and deal with their own sensitive listening.

This month, I&amp#39;m taking you on an exploration of the controversial and unloved genre that is black metal, but without playing any of it. For this thesis, I tried to identify the key emotions of this music, such as depression, violence, extreme sadness, resilience, folklore. I then located these emotions inside other tracks of other genres, and arranged them together to issue some kind of a blueprint for black metal. I&amp#39;m obviously talking the whole time. Enjoy !

This is a piece I did for the french radio France Culture. 
I wanted to test the resistance of our hearing by destroying, altering and mixing together some easily recognizable sounds with my own creations.
The result is something like a strange dj set, where you get lost in between meaningless stabs of sounds and horrific abstract atmospheres.
