Saadhsangat Ji, in celebration of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji's 400th Parkash Purab (1st May 2021), a series of Katha videos/audios have been recorded, covering Guru Ji's Itihaas (history) by Giani Baljinder Singh Ji (Shaheedi Bunga UK). This Katha series will be based upon historical sources such as Baani Bhai Nand Laal Ji, Sri Gurpratap Suraj Granth (Mahakavi Bhai Santokh Singh Ji), Sri Gur Panth Parkash (Giani Giaan Singh Ji), Sri Gur Pur Parkash (Kavi Sant Ren Prem Singh Ji), and Sri Gurmukh Parkash (Sant Giani Gurbachan Singh Ji). This first video describes the Parkash of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji at Guru Ke Mehal, Amritsar Sahib.

In this chapter, Kavi Santokh Singh Ji before commencing his magnus opus, Sri Gurpertap Suraj Granth narrates the origin of the source of his narration. Kavi Ji trails back to Baba Buddha Ji and slowly descends to Baba Ram Koer Ji (Baba Gurbaksh Singh Ji).

Gurpertap Suraj Granth Ras 1 Chapter 2

In this chapter, Kavi Santokh Singh Ji dwells deeper into the background of Baba Ram Koer Ji (Baba Gurbaksh Singh Ji) who is his source in the writing of this Granth. Furthermore, a story of Baba Ram Koer Ji's encounter with a group of villagers is narrated wherein Baba Ji is invited by the villagers on a funerary ceremony. In that ceremony, Baba Ji is fed with Kheer and Baba Ji being pleased asks what is the occasion? The villagers reply that it is because someone had passed away, Baba Ji immediately says that a person will die every day (so that he will receive the delicious kheer). So it did happen and after a while, the anxious villagers came back to Baba Ji and called him over for a wedding function and served him with Kheer. Being pleased, Baba Ji says that everyday there would be a wedding in this village.

Gurpertap Suraj Granth Ras 1 Chapter 3

This chapter will cover the history when the invaders ransacked Baba Ram Koer Ji's village of Ramdas and looted everything. However, Baba Ji was unaffected but when the looters reached their headquarters in Lahore, their governor who knew about Baba Ji was frightened as he knew that any word which comes out from Baba Ji's mouth turns into reality. So he immediately comes down to Ramdas village and apologises to Baba Ji and asks Baba Ji to list down the items which were stolen so that they are returned. Baba Ji only mentions 3 items which were: a horse, a silk rope and a stand for his falcon. The governor acknowledges them and invites Baba Ji to Lahore. Baba Ji agrees and is brought for a tour of Lahore and upon its completion, Baba Ji asks the governor, "Who will return the looted items if Lahore is ransacked?" Governor is speechless. He later gifts Baba Ji a stubborn horse so that he can test if Baba Ji is indeed miraculous, Baba Ji as usual sat on one side of the horse and without any rein. As Baba Ji rode it, the horse was no longer wild and became tame

Gurpertap Suraj Granth Ras 1 Chapter 4

In this chapter, Kavi Satokh Singh Ji writes his literary background and the books he had written prior to the Suraj Granth. He also mentions of the main source of his book which was the history narrated by Baba Ram Koeir Ji to the Sikhs. The pothi which was referenced is no longer extant.

In this chapter, brief history of the 2 sons of Guru Nanak Dev Ji following His Joti Joyt is narrated. Also, the birth of a sect in Sikhi, Udasi is also mentioned along with their foremost leaders (Baba Almast, Baba Balu Hasna, Baba Goind and Baba Phool)

This Chapter shall cover the Gur Pranali (the chronological information on the lives of Sikh Guru) from Guru Nanak Dev Ji till Guru Arjan Dev Ji.

ਪਉੜੀ ੧੮ : ਚਰਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਨਿੰਮ੍ਰਤਾ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼
Learning humility from feet    

ਸਿਰ ਉਚਾ ਨੀਵੇਂ ਚਰਣ ਸਿਰਿ ਪੈਰੀ ਪਾਂਦੇ।
The head is high and the feet are at a low level but still the head bows upon the feet.

ਮੁਹੁ ਅਖੀ ਨਕੁ ਕੰਨ ਹਥ ਦੇਹ ਭਾਰ ਉਚਾਂਦੇ।
The feet carry the burden of mouth, eyes, nose, ears, hands and the whole body.

ਸਭ ਚਿਹਨ ਛਡਿ ਪੂਜੀਅਨਿ ਕਉਣੁ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਂਦੇ।
Then, leaving aside all the body organs, only they (feet) are worshipped.

ਗੁਰ ਸਰਣੀ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤੀ ਨਿਤ ਚਲਿ ਚਲਿ ਜਾਂਦੇ।
They daily go to the holy congregation in the shelter of the Guru.

ਵਤਨਿ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰ ਨੋ ਕਰਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਵਸਾਂਦੇ।
Then they run for the altruistic works and accomplish the work to the maximum possible.

ਮੇਰੀ ਖਲਹੁ ਮੌਜੜੇ ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਹੰਢਾਂਦੇ।
Alas! Were it so that shoes made of my skin were used by the Sikhs of the Guru.

ਮਸਤਕ ਲਗੇ ਸਾਧ ਰੇਣੁ ਵਡਭਾਗਿ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ॥੧੮॥
Whosoever gets the dust of the feet of such people (with above virtues) he is fortunate and a blessed one.
