Here'z a tape that'z been around thiz planet many timez b4 thee internet just through my circle of tape collectors & trading what wuz going on where ever part of thiz planet they lived in. I got a few of these tapez through one of my brother'z high school friend who wuz good friend'z with Frankie Knuckles... Or my infamous cousin who wuz a regular @ the Warehouse & would alwayz run in2 Frankie @ Imports Etc. Record store in Chicago & Frankie would recognize him from the club & would alwayz give him tapez... & of course I'll end up with them. Unfortunately this tape wuz recorded on a normal bias tape... but you can still feel the live vibe from that legendary club & dj.

Here'z another slammin' mix by thee Latin Rascals aka Tony Moran and Albert Cabrera. These cat'z were ahead of tha game. Their editting skills were beyond measure. Tony also did some super freestyle tracks with his amazing & unique voice. Nowadayz Tony is probably 1 of thee best Circuit House DJ'z & production on some fierce big room tracks, working with tha biggest names in thee industry.
Albert has kept a low profile & relocated to Thailand... though he has done some projects under the alias One Rascal Productions.
This mix from 1986' showz their turn table technic skillz & sick editz & cutz... right on point!!!

Augie Robles (the photographer) spotted an elementary school class of around 25 children with two teachers suddenly appear scaling the momentous stair case behind our subject!
They shouted;
“Sr. Sapo! Sr. Sapo!”
the name has stuck! they wanted to have their pictures taken with Sr. Sapo? however; they did not want to touch him as they thought his skin might be “viscoso” or “slimy”?

“Q’uq’umatz” (as it is known amongst the K’iche’ Maya) goes back to the Olmec culture and represents the duality of flight to reach the skies; whereas the reptilian (in most cases a snake) represents the ability to mingle amongst other creatures of the Earth;
Among the Aztecs he was related to the gods of wind; of the dawn; of merchants and arts; crafts; knowledge and the planet Venus: as well as their patron god of the priesthood…

THE FUTURE S0UND 0f YESTERDAY is as well a construct of the imagination; a fictitious “orchestra” with many imaginary characters; KENT CHESTERFiElD; LEE NAilZ; PHATTITUDE; EPiPHANY TALEUR; ThE ClARKETTES (they actually exist in the “real” world)…

The titles:
“0de to A Tree”;
is the culmination of a night out in Berlin; “…met a young man in a bar close to the “atelier”; he said he wanted to play something on a piano; we go to the place and he plays this melody over a rhythm though not in rhythm?
…basically edited none of it; then used a series of tone generators and filters to change the sound into all the soundscapes you hear in the final piece; the title was simply a tribute to the trees…” Eric D. Clark

“is it good to Ya’?”;
is a slow pumping House song with a message in the form of a question; “is it good for you?” as in “I could do it; however; should I? you know; look in a mirror and ask the question”…
the Music came about as an experiment at NADEL EiNS Studio in Berlin; Heavy bass at around 116bpm plus Erix’s cheeky vocal stylings weaving in & out of frame (as well key) deliver a unique aural experience!

the final track:
“Elsewhere playback”
is literally the playback of a track Eric did under the guise of KENT CHESTERFIELD for a party series he did in Sacramento CA with AJ Sachs…
it’s really just a tool; the good thing is you can drop -8 (or -16 assuming your tables are tuned) to bring it to a tempo one could easily rap over OR push it up to +8 and have a dry Tech number? Either way it BANGS! Dub Plates & Mastering did a swell job!!

overall a must for any Dance Music aficionado’s collection out on October 10th on SHADDOCK RECORDS !

On the heels of the success of Tin Man’s - S_MPL_HOUSE EP Shaddock is proud to welcome another true master for the label’s fifth release: J.T.C.

Originally produced for Tim Sweeny’s ‘Beats in Space’ radio show the title track was heard in one of J.T.C’s DJ sets during a night out in Berlin and was signed to Shaddock on the spot. Heavy on the synths with a stirring bass-line and a driving 808, ‘Beats In Space’ is destined to shake-up every dance-floor.

Stepping up for his first ever remix duty is no other than Madteo of Meakusma, Workshop or Joy Orbison’s Hinge Finger fame, who added his unique signature of twisted, hypnotic left-field house, aptly titling his re-work 'Mad in Space’.

On the flip J.T.C showcases his more melodic side as well as his versatility as a producer. ‘The First Night Cycle’, feat. Ellis Monk is a metabolic track clocking in at eight minutes developing over time, all the while under-laid with James T. Cotton’s ceaseless heavy grooves.

‘Love Canopy And Vessels’ finishes this little gem in the best Detroit/ Chicago house fashion.
