A playlist of works I've released or been a part of producing in some way in 2020. This is the first year I've shifted focus from solo production so much, and have made more of an effort to produce for other artists such as @elphi22, @itslaurentii, @clumsyvamsi, @kitten-brain & more!

True Friends Remix Project

Velkro presents the new single and poem by Norwegian producer Henrik the Artist called PEDDI MAX. The single is being released with a mammoth 21 collection of remixes from his 'true friends', a roster that includes contributions from all around the world. It's an ambitious project in the world of bootleg remixes that plays with the idea of reworking music and art over and over on the internet. It is also a testament to true friendship - or, as Henrik will put it, it’s all made “by true friends for true friends”.

Parks Burton - The Valley (Shady Monk Remix)

Electronic artist from the US Orlando Boom graces the Not Like That catalogue with this killer EP mixing maximalist production with solid 4-to-the-floor club beats and a nod to Miami Bass. 

'Parallelogram' and 'PYT Tool' are perfect Not Like That releases; they walk that tricky line between experimental and poppy fun beautifully. They work just as well in headphone as in clubs or raves!

WATER SPIRIT - TEETH (EIDOLON FLIP)

Boy Friend aka Zach Buckley is Not Like That's newest producer/artist and he's only 19 years old, from the UK. Heavily influenced by the PC music label and artists, he's been experimenting to create something new and exciting. ‘Give It 2 Me’ is the first original track to hit that sweet spot. The future is bright for Boy Friend whose stylistic choices are getting off to an exciting start with fast tempo, hyper metallic synths with extreme vocals. "There’s just something about that sound which releases so much dopamine inside my big old head"

I've been a huge fan of her work ever since discovering her through Iglooghost and their trio project with Kai Whiston, GLOO. I chose this track of the three because it resonated with me the most in a way I felt I could strongly relate to. I hope you enjoy my remix!

'WOO' is an immersive art installation, created by moving image artist Justice David Gutierrez (of Warm Bubblegum) & is currently active at contemporary arts organization "ahha Tulsa", located in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The 'WOO: Original Soundtrack' is a comprehensive aural directors cut, in a manor of speaking, of selections of looped, generated, and sequenced sounds created originally for the installation.

About WOO:

Having successfully worked together in the past, with regard to my contributions to his short film 'Check Surroundings' in 2017, Justice reached out to me requesting original & interactive sound design to help bring his installation space to life, and naturally I was honored to take on the task. This would be my first official work for an installation, something I'd been yearning to make happen increasingly with time, and I honestly couldn't have asked for a better collaborator to bring that dream to fruition. After some time discussing concepts and direction, sharing playlists of influential music that Justice had been recently inspired by, and some reworking of ideas, we established what would become 'WOO'. I began projecting myself in this new space we were aiming to create. Though music production always tends to be something of a meditative exercise for me, I must say that almost instantly, I could tell this process was different, and it was quite cathartic to say the least.
One significant downside admittedly has been the geographical distance between Justice and I. Though, through thick and thin we've managed to smooth over and hash out the heart of what we hoped to accomplish, doing so entirely over the internet and states apart, was less than ideal, and there is a bit of sadness I feel knowing that I haven't had the chance (yet) to physically experience the finished product of our hard work for myself, between general life setbacks, and well...2020. *cough*
That all said I have zero complaints. This was a true joy of a project from start to finish. Something I'm extremely proud of and that I hope you can all experience a sliver of the full magic of this wonderous exhibit through this collected body of sound presented here.
