A FOND FAREWELL

I had the great privilege of collaborating with my dear friend (and incredibly epic human) Loretta “Draegan” Laurin on the music for their Bass Flow Yoga workshop at Bass Coast 2022. The workshop took place in the Slowtempo space, which turned out to be my favourite stage at the festival, and I am really happy with how the mix came together.  

Workshop Description:
Supercharge your energy with a delicious, full-body dynamic movement practice. Enjoy bassy flowing sequences with inspiration from Vinyasa Yoga, topped off with easeful stretching. Find your power and reconnect to your body, breath, and community.

Facilitator Biography:
Loretta “Draegan” Laurin (they/them) is a multi-talented lover of movement who thrives at the intersection of somatics and social justice. Loretta has over 13 years of teaching experience in embodiment (yoga, dance, pilates, fitness) and social justice education. They host an annual retreat at Hollyhock on Cortes Island, and are working towards a Masters in Counseling Psychology. The perfect balance of grounded depth and ridiculous joy, Loretta’s classes offer a unique fusion experience that will challenge and uplift. Live @ Fernhill Ecstatic Dance '22

What an ABSOLUTELY beautiful night it was at the October Moontribe in the Mystical Mojave Desert of Southern California. The collective called for a tribal set and since this wasn't an opening or closing set, I wanted to craft a journey that was more dancefloor friendly. The gathering was held DEEP in the desert so many people (including myself) were a bit late to the party. However, this was no issue as there was so many people on the dancefloor enjoying the energy of the music. I always thing about everyone at the campsite relaxing and enjoying the sounds as well during my sets. With much love and honor always, I am very grateful to present my art striaght from the heart! Love each and every one listening!

This dreamy femhouse set was curated by Taylor Chancellor (1/2 of Dose.)and shared live at Bloom Nightclub as an evening opener for the Queens, Meow Mix 20th Anniversary.

This set pays homage to loved ones lost and loved the ones we hold dear to our hearts. Full of deep vulnerability, these tracks revel in emotion. Each track was thoughtfully selected to represent the baddie fems, women, and thems who are making big waves in the scene. 

Many thanks and gratitude for the ladies of Meow Mix who have done so much for the Kootenay community music scene.

Music meandering like the Mississippi and swampy like the bayou,  this grimy grip of downtempo speaks from a snatch of six-string, a chatter of banjos, lonesome  voices and pondering bass lines...

Shallin's love for music started on the dancefloor in 2004. Inspired by the power of their own movement practice, they produced underground events in North Carolina from 2004-2006 to provide a space for folks to move and flow. 

Living abroad and international travel have inspired them to highlight and elevate the beautiful sounds of other cultures. You can catch Shallin out and about in Portland, OR, and beyond these days. Find them mixing all things vocal and sexy- from Latin house and liquid, to global bass and ecstatic.
