Bene and Nils aka Kon Faber are two talented young producers from Berlin. We share quite a few friends and it was just a matter of time till we would be collaborating. That moment happened at the beginning of 2021 and from the moment we heard their track Odyssey for the first time it has been running on repeat in our mountain studio in Portugal.

Logically finding remix artists was not very tricky and we are delighted to welcome Harry Charles to Hug Records with this beauty of a remix. He finished the story in four days. We’re delighted to present you the first part of an amazing collaboration with our Brazilian friends at CasaCaos Records. “Shango b2b CasaCaos EP Vol.1” is a superb EP containing six remixes crafted carefully by Shango Records artists for classic tracks of the CasaCaos catalogue. And so we started out into the night, down towards the waterfront where there was the sound of music and shouts and drunken oaths, he was talking quietly all the while about this and that, about a girl he had fallen in love with. From that he switched back to the Baron de Charlus and then to Kurtz who had gone up the river and got lost. His favorite theme. I liked the way he moved against this background of literature continuously; it was like a millionaire who never stepped out of his Rolls Royce. There was no intermediate realm for him between reality and ideas. When we entered the whorehouse on the Quai Voltaire, after he had flung himself on the divan and rung for girls and for drinks, he was still paddling up the river with Kurtz, and only when the girls had flopped on the bed beside him and stuffed his mouth with kisses did he cease his divagations. Ka:lu escaped from the empty land with his Arp and took the nowhere’s road. This is his second offering for Shango Records. These tracks can teach you how to give beauty to the people. Kaöb, DIBIDABO, AmuAmu, Chomba and Zuma Dionys are giving love and beauty and warm feelings in their own unique way.

What is home for you?

Home is where the heart is. Most hacky phrase ever.
But this saying does indeed have its legitimacy.
For us home is not necessarily connected to one certain place or the country you were born in.
We think being home is being together with the ones you love.
The ones you feel comfortable with and the ones who love you as the person you really are.
Home is where an individual is able to feel safe and loved,
where the negative essence of necessity does not loom large.
The following is a excerpt of the line we sampled for the song "Home":
"...living in an environment that allowed us to be exactly who we are..."

What’s the closest thing to real magic for you?

First thing we both thought of was actually related to music.
TISKO create music while jamming in the studio.
Looking for sounds, sounddesigning on synths, setting up effects, cutting samples, record percussions,
finding melodies, adjusting levels and so on - just messing around.
As we both don´t have genuine musical background this is quite often real chaos.
We don´t talk, we just watch the synths, tweak knobs and try at least to split elements between us.
Sometimes, after two hours or so, we even get a little frustrated.
But there is this one magic moment where everything merges into a proper loop.
Bass and beat start grooving, sindechain pumps, highhats run smoothly, melodies harmonize, rooms and reverbs start fitting the mood, filters and compressors rub sounds into the mix and everything starts being in sympathy.
The moment of chaos transforming into a musical piece we both feel without talking is close to real magic...

What’s the most useless talent you have?

Martin is a nose-flute virtuoso.
Henning can light up a shot of sambuca in his mouth and make the flames sparkle with powdered cinnamon.

Kicking off 2021, Nathan Hall’s Sattva EP provides three moody slow techno offerings, with Kusht, Manski and jiony on remix duties.  Nathan Hall focuses on the darker side of music, with texture and atmosphere being the main subject matter of the EP. Born from short bursts of inspiration in the greyed out winters of the Pacific Northwest all original mixes are laced with pensive,  apocalyptic vibes. Expect synth pads kissed by the 80s, melancholic lead parts that break through and underline hypnotic arrangements and subtle organic percussions. Kusht’s remix lifts up these organic parts, supported by additional guitar lines to create his own signature version of These Days while Manski’s energetic version is a gritty banger with a touch of Leftfield House. Contributing a stripped-down remix jiony is rounding out the EP as a whole by adding psychedelic elements to keep up the spirit of Nathan Hall’s Sattva EP for a proper start into 2021.
