One night, as the magistrate traveled through the mountains (again on a trip to gain favor for his son’s future marriage), he saw an old man sitting alone in the moonlight. The old man ignored the passing horses and carriages, the silk brocade and the government seal, and simply continued reading a large book in his lap, placidly fingering a bag of red string beside him. The old man’s indifference infuriated Magistrate Tiger and he ordered the carriage to stop. However, even the halting noises did not make the old man look up. Finally, Magistrate Tiger exited his carriage and went to the old man, still engrossed in his book. “Do you not bow to your magistrate?!” he roared. The old man continued to read. “What are you reading that is so important?” the magistrate demanded, and looked at the front cover of the book. With big bold silver letters the title was written on it: “Break Into The Light”. Veytik is living in the place where animals can speak and trees are made of poetry. This is his second offering for Shango Records. These two tracks can tell stories about the World and the magic of light. Dj Sergee, 
K-os Theory and Stephane Salerno are carrying the fire and the light into their own hands.

Brooklyn based friends Nhii and Kahari deliver us a new EP called Origins, a downtempo house / techno tune which combines the sound of Moog's Sub37 with the rich sonics of a sitar solo from multi-instrumentalist Sant from Iran. This is the second collaboration between Sant and Nhii, which gained support from Oliver Koletzki, Elif, Be Svendsen, Niconé AFFKT, Double Touch, and Raw Main. This collaboration marks Kahari's first release and his entrance to the electronic music scene. The remixes included in the EP are the winners of a Patreon Exclusive Remix Contest supervised by Pipe and Pochet Head honchos Ali Farahani and Patrik Khach.

The best story in the book of Thousand Nights and One Night is the one in the City of Brass. A crew of explorers, after following a long path marked by sinister statues and a dark castle full of tombs, come to a walled city. On the outer walls they encounter charming young women, who on closer inspection reveal themselves to be cunningly constructed automatons meant to fool invaders into jumping off the walls to their deaths. A few of the men are killed before the illusion is discovered. The rest venture inside, where they find buildings of unbelievable opulence, with every surface seemingly covered in gold and jewels. But the city is ominously silent. The only inhabitants are human corpses, some still sitting in their homes and shops, giving the impression of life frozen in time. The party eventually reaches the city’s queen. Her sparkling eyes cause them to briefly mistake her for a living person, but they soon learn that she too is dead and that the light from her eyes comes from quicksilver placed there by an embalmer. A nearby inscription tells the whole story: the city was struck by a famine, and the people, once they had exhausted every effort to save themselves, went back to their places and awaited their fates. In the end, it’s a cautionary tale about the transience of wealth. Anber is a man of wisdom and true feelings. This is his fourth offering for Shango Records. These two tracks can give light to every dark story. K-os Theory, Max Tenrom and Chalanga live in the land of fairytales.

Dracaena Cinnabari, the Socotra dragon tree or dragon blood tree, is a dragon tree native to the Socotra archipelago, part of Yemen, located in the Arabian Sea. The dragon blood tree has a unique and strange appearance, with an "upturned, densely packed crown having the shape of an uprightly held umbrella". This evergreen species is named after its dark red resin, which is known as "dragon's blood". Unlike most monocot plants, Dracaena displays secondary growth, even has growth zones resembling tree rings found in dicot tree species. Along with other arborescent Dracaena species it has a distinctive growth habit called "dracoid habitus". Its leaves are found only at the end of its youngest branches; its leaves are all shed every 3 or 4 years before new leaves simultaneously mature. Branching tends to occur when the growth of the terminal bud is stopped, due to either flowering or traumatic events.  Its fruits are small fleshy berries containing between 1 and 4 seeds. As they develop they turn from green to black, and then become orange when ripe. The berries are eaten by birds and thereby dispersed. The berries exude a deep red resin, known as dragon's blood. In the evening, after sunset and when the half moon shined in the sky, she prayed on the terrace, facing the moon, as its dim orange color smoldered over the mountains. Again, she sang and praised God for the blessings she had in life. Moon was a good daughter. She worked with her mother in their small plot of land, from dawn until dusk. Bending all day to plant rice caused unbearable pain in her back. She never whined, even when blood-sucking rice worms pinned themselves to her legs. She would light a match to the worms, almost burning her own flesh, to get the bloodsuckers off from her legs. Moon still did not grumble; a smile never left her face, and she gladly worked and worked. After working until five in the afternoon, she took the family cow and goats to the fields for grazing, sang to them, and then milked them lovingly with sore hands that ached from working in the fields. She did all this and never complained. Her mother called her a sweet angel of God, her beloved sweeter than her soul, a saint. When Moon brought lunch for her, her mother would kiss her forehead, as tears rolled down her own cheeks. Mondul and Tim Smith live in the sultanate of Moon. This is their first offering for Shango Records. These tracks can give you the silver brightness of the Moon. Maris, Sinai and Ali Termos pay their respects to the great sultan of the skies!

The first thing I noticed about Bombay, on that first day, was the smell of the different air. I could smell it before I saw or heard anything of India, even as I walked along the umbilical corridor that connected the plane to the airport. I was excited and delighted by it, in that first Bombay minute, escaped from prison and new to the wide world, but I didn't and couldn't recognize it. I know now that it's the sweet, sweating smell of hope, which is the opposite of hate; and it's the sour, stifled smell of greed, which is the opposite of love. It's the smell of gods, demons, empires, and civilizations in resurrection and decay. It's the blue skin-smell of the sea, no matter where you are in the Island City, and the blood-metal smell of machines. It smells of the stir and sleep and waste of sixty million animals, more than half of them humans and rats. It smells of heartbreak, and the struggle to live, and of the crucial failures and loves that produce our courage. It smells of ten thousand restaurants, five thousand temples, shrines, churches, and mosques, and of a hundred bazaars devoted exclusively to perfumes, spices, incense, and freshly cut flowers. Karla once called it the worst good smell in the world, and she was right, of course, in that way she had of being right about things. But whenever I return to Bombay, now, it's my first sense of the city-that smell, above all things-that welcomes me and tells me I've come home. D.Leto delivers love and hopes in the city of Shantaram. This is her first offering for Shango Records. These tracks can heal your body and awake your senses. Bakean and Umannto are smelling mysterious perfumes and tasting delicious spices in the temple of forever.
