Joan met Charlie dancing at Finnegans on Wednesday 26th November 1941...The song reflects that on the last day of 1942 they were still together. The Diary entry for Thursday March 31st reads...'Went to Work'....In the evening went to the Shakespeare to see Vivien Lee in 'Lady Hamilton' ....Afterwards  we sat in the Front Room....Mum and Dad joined us!
The First song in a short trilogy of songs covering Joan's meeting with Charlie 'Jock', Her time without him and finally her engagment!

George had a Watch Repair Shop and Jewellers in Swan Street. He was colour blind which meant he could not distinguish between Gold and Silver. Charlie had transferred a money order from Egypt where he was serving and having changed it at the Post Office Joan took the money to 'Uncle George' to buy her engagement ring!
The third song in the Trilogy from 'Joan'.....This song marks the engagemnt of Joan and Charlie!

FACELESS

Kathleen Byrne wrote a prose piece for the book '100 Years Of Trafford Park' We adapted her lovely idea into this song which is a  memory of one of the Air Raids on Trafford Park in 1940 as part of the Salford Blitz.

Written and performed by Ellen Ogden. I recorded a whole CD of her original music in 2013. There were many great tracks but this one, so simple...so moving is among my favourites. I was going to do a 2020 remix and maybe add strings and things but decided against it....Just added a little compression....
