Hello folks, after a short break on Soundcloud and some fulminant Blank Wave parties with Perel, Shubostar and Lauer, we're back again with a highly anticipated double feature: Welcome Andi, the New York City-based DJ and producer, who is also founder of the dark synth and industrial party and label, Synthicide. She contributed this marvellous exclusive mix for our Blank Wave series and is also playing her debut in Frankfurt on our event on Saturday, June 16 2023, at ono2 accompanied by Shia LaBiff. 

Andi now holds her ninth-year residency at Brooklyn’s notorious venue Bossa Nova Civic Club. Her aesthetic combines her devotion to underground 1980s industrial, EBM, new beat, and sleazy synth whose dark beats create an exciting soundscape that is unarguably danceable. She has DJed all over the world and is known in niche music circuits for her ability to mix together older tracks with new ones to create a diverse and unique set. Additionally, Andi is part of the ItaloMatic crew, a resident at The Lot Radio, and a resident DJ at the dark 80s new wave night, Music For the Masses.

Her own productions aim to challenge the expectations within the confines of the masculine EBM genre, often focusing on the ideas of revenge and strength through a woman’s perspective. Andi released her first EP, Corpse to Corpus, on aufnahme + wiedergabe in 2020, the Torque Force split EP with Randolph & Mortimer on Mecanica Records in 2021 and recently the EP Compelling Evidence on a+w. Now available for pre-order via Mannequin Records is her Parafernales EP feat. Machino.

Blank Wave Guest Mix 012: Andi

Alone in the Dark is a DJ from Leipzig, Germany. Moved to Leipzig in 2022 and inpired by the rich underground goth and techno scene he started djing in 2023. He blends various dark electronic music genres including Dark Techno, Darkwave, Coldwave, Electronic/Techno Body Music and Industrial with additional bits of New Beat, Italo Disco, Electro Pop, New Wave and Postpunk.

The set is created with the feeling of being in a safe space and losing yourself to the sound and the track selection is inspired by the emotions and experiences of the last month. Felling post-gig energy and happiness but also mourning over lost talents in the techno/darkwave community together with hopes about the recent outcry against the far right in Germany and still some fear. Through a blend of beats and melodies, the artist invites the listeners to this journey firsthand.

Hailing from Texas, Semantix is a Persian-American producer, DJ, and live artist known for delivering an intersection of EBM and Techno, shattering dance floors from NYC to LA and everywhere in between. He’s released with NYC powerhouse Synthicide, Atlanta’s DKA records, contributed to VA compilations such as Berlin’s CRAVE Tapes and has produced remixes for some of EBM’s current heavy hitters from Comfort Cure and Nuxx Vomica to NYC cyber punks L.O.T.I.O.N.

With roots entrenched in diverse underground scenes, Semantix's music background spans from being a part of bands from punk/hardcore to post-punk, which has been a major influence on his style of EBM and Techno. Today he brings you a mix that traverses a spectrum from EBM to gritty Electro!
