The collaboration with Modular Project has finally led to the release of ‘Leaving’, their debut single on Rebirth.
Born and raised between Como and Milan, and joined by a strong love for music and vintage synths, Alberto Iovine and Alessandro Fumagalli started to work in the studio together in 2015, releasing music on labels like Off and Moodmusic before joining Rebirth and launching their own imprint Nothing Is Real.  Their rework of the Blond:ish classic 'Wizard Of Love’ was one of the most requested tracks on Rebirth last year, has been re-released by Time Records now.

‘Leaving’ is an instantly arresting, anthemic slice of electronic pop, fusing powerful drums, driving synth pads, and celestial vocals for emotional impact.
And we are very happy to have in the release two of the most important producers In the electronic music scene: Martin Gretschmann aka Acid Pauli does a superb job, translating the atmospheres of the original onto a dubbier version for the floor, giving us moments of high intensity through a deep journey melancholia and synth laden ambience. One of the most renowned and versatile Danish producers, Kasper Bjørke, reworks the song with a unique blend of sunny, spaced out psychedelic synths and insistent live drums that simply shimmers.

The fourth Applied Magic release comes courtesy of Komenda, two alluring Süßboys from the flatlands of the North German Plain.

All tracks are unique in their own little way, just like the minds that created them. A manifestation of the idea that art must constantly move forward, that there are still new ideas and uncharted territories out there. You just have to seek them out.

Tunno could be best described as the sound of a dying dial-up modem, sending stuttering morse code to the depths of interplanetary space. Reminiscent of 90s bleep sound, warped and filtered through a prism of contemporary, cutting edge dance music.Guaranteed goosebump material!

356 really has its own pulse. 5 to the floor, straight yet broken, an everchanging, perpetually repeating mantra that just sticks in your head and never leaves you again. An unlikely earworm if you just let it catch you.

French hypertalent INVŌKER's remix for Tunno takes the original and wraps it up in a warm and cozy blanket. Classic Detroit pads meet a colorful, almost Balearic sound design with the monochromatic, angular original melody still shining through, transporting it from outer space to outside - somewhere near the beach.

The whole package is topped off with an artwork by David Kochs, who is not only a singular producer and DJ but obviously a really good designer as well.

Pale Blue, the duo of Elizabeth Wight and Mike Simonetti, released their debut album to much critical acclaim back in 2015. They come together once again with their latest EP You Stopped Dying due to drop on Crosstown Rebels in February.

“The “You Stopped Dying” ep takes influence from shoegaze groups like Slowdive and My Bloody Valentine and moves it to the dance floor....The result is a strange hybrid that some have called “technogaze”....This would never work if Liz wasn’t such a strong vocalist. Pale Blue is a hypnotic affair, the driving bass sitting perfectly under Wight’s powerful yet ethereal vocals. Daughter of Babylon takes the record into heavier techno territory with its thudding bass and Wight’s breathy vocals delicately layered over the top. On the flip side Love is an unapologetically industrial number with screeching synths that echo around Wight’s vocals.

Simonetti and Wight have each earned their musical stripes in their own rights. Simonetti founded the hugely popular Italians Do It Better as well as his own successful record label, 2MR. He’s released a slew of records on highly regarded imprints such as Me Me Me, Correspondant and Public Release, and enjoys a fruitful career as a touring DJ, which shows no sign of abating. Wight has previously lent her exhilarating vocals to the West Coast band, Silver Hands of which she was once one half of.

KOMPAKT welcomes back three dear friends – Copenhagen’s WhoMadeWho. Tomas Barfod’s penchant for electronic music poetically juxtaposed with Tomas Høffding and Jeppe Kjellberg’s respective backgrounds in rock and jazz, gives their music an electrifying combination of sounds, merging a variety of influences to produce a unique sonic fingerprint that is emotive, irresistible and immensely satisfying.

Though we both have yet to strike a note together since the release of their 2012 full length “Brighter” (KOM 254), WhoMadeWho have been remarkably productive. With two full lengths, a DJ mix for Watergate’s series and releasing two of 2019’s most played out club tracks together with Rampa (Innervisions) and Artbat (Watergate Records), the trio have found themselves diving more and more into the world of electronic music, tapping into their goldmine of connections within the scene to spearhead an array of collaborations.

The result is Synchronicity – a full length album to be released on November 13th.

The final chapter of our EP series is “Synchronicity III” – Kompakt’s fearless leader Michael Mayer joins forces with the trio to produce an outlandishly catchy house excursion. A throbbingly sexy groove twists around a nonsensically fun robo-disco vocal. Terr makes serious waves these days – from her exceptional releases on Phantasy, Correspondant, Permanent Vacation to released and operating own imprint Clash Lion they come up with “Falling Out” – an exclusive to this EP. This is the ultimate duet – her vocals harmonise with the band under flow with the perfect rhythm and beat of disco-fied refinement. Next up is Rebolledo – Mexico’s ambassador of dance floor devotion and one half of the legendary Pachanga Boys. A dear friend to the house of Kompakt. “Chaser” fuels those travellers of the night – a soundtrack for another dimension. Last but not least, fans will rejoice as Adana Twins return with a second collaboration together with the band. The clang of the cowbell is clear as a twisted guitar twangs to an ominous 4/4 rhythm.
