The album was written and recorded between January and March 2021, in the middle of a depressive period involving burn-out. While making music was part of the therapy and its connected daily routine, this music suddenly became the score and soundtrack of those months and of the process that was unfolding at that time. As such, It emerged to hold me is inspired by and dedicated to those emotional and mental states that are somewhere dormant inside for a while, but then start to gradually manifest and take control of the individual, up to the moment of holding them completely. 

Music wise, It emerged to hold me is built around layers of synths, guitars, keyboards and samples which blur and mold into each other to create rarefied and dreamy moments of floating calm from where storms and heaviness slowly emerge.

This stunning collaboration between Andrew Heath and James Osland is overwhelmingly informed by both a dense, drifting landscape and a love of process - a slow tone collage. Here lies beauty and delicacy - an intimate tracery of piano notes and modular tones woven between field recordings, organic electronics and shimmering guitar. ‘Once we were all here and nowhere else’ hardly dares to breathe sometimes, as it leaves you suspended in the quiet, shining air. 

James and Andrew were drawn together by a mutual respect for each other's work in the ambient music field. Both are UK based artists. Andrew has released several albums and EPs on Disco Gecko, Whitelabrecs, Rusted Tone Recordings, Elm Records and Chihei Hatakeyama’s Japanese label, White Paddy Mountain. He has collaborated with among others, the legendary Hans-Joachim Roedelius, Dutch ambient guitarist, Anne Chris Bakker and electronica artist, Banco de Gaia. James Osland not only runs the boutique cassette label, Elm Records but releases as an artist in his own right having worked with such labels as Unknown Tone Records, Whitelabrecs, Flaming Pines and Rusted Tone Recordings to name a few. His work seeks to explore our relationships with sound, memory and place through a variety of different sonic processes. 

Both artists have been quietly working on material together for the last few years so expect more from this wellspring of beautiful and dreamlike work.

Lingering fingerprints of a time bygone, hints of a scent once always, a photograph. The dust settles, dancing in the the last rays of sunlight. These days were felt and the smiles and tears we shed are now or the past. The letters we wrote remain, the pictures fade as the world beyond the lens morphs into its ever changing continuum, leaving us with just our creation; a memory away. This album is an expression of nostalgia, capturing the bittersweet evocation of reading letters from the past, seeing the photographs, the wrenching effect of smelling the familiar scents of a time long passed and realizing that the world is always changing, and so are you. Created with many recordings of nature, instruments, non-instruments and processed using a wide variety of techniques including tape, granular synthesis and analog synthesis, Dynastor explores the storytelling quality of music, creating evocations of places, people, memories and their passing.
