Elektroherd (Електрохерд) is an Ukrainian post rock, electronica and ambient band from Brovary. The band defines their style as electrofolk.
Founded in 2004 by Maxim Shubskyi and Pavel Golubovski, it was active until 2014 and now exists as a studio project only.

This track is taken from their "Suló" album, which was a part of "Color Series" project by now defunct Arterija record label — a set of 10 albums from 10 different countries, each one assigned a certain color in a random order. This one was in color black and representing Ukraine. Each album was a limited to 50 copies CDR release in handmade color cardboard sleeve with a sticker. Unfortunately "Color Series" never came to fruition, only 5 out of 10 releases were made.

The recording of this specific release was quite strenuous due to the band's technical and financial limitations and the result turned out kinda half-baked. However one track, "Such Comfort In Repetition" was an international collaboration and featured spoken word audio provided by Earth Monkey Productions, another long gone netlabel based on Barrow Island in Cumbria, UK. We won't post it here though, our highlight is "Summer '06 Collage" instead.

This composition consists of two parts: first part is an ambient laptop electronica using broken Reaktor software and lo-fi audio interface written and composed by Maxim Shubski, and the second one (starting approx. on 3:19) is a multi tracked electroacoustic Yamaha guitar melody written and composed by Pavlo Golubovski. Both blend together into a sort of collage mixed in summer 2006, hence the name. We have pumped up the volume a little bit so you could enjoy the lo-fi glitchy formant noise in this track.

"A dub version could be a stone killer", predicted David Hutchison in his 4 star Mojo review of 'You No Fit Touch Am'. And here it is: Afrobeat icon Dele Sosimi's recent album gloriously re-imagined in dub by two production masters, Prince Fatty and Nostalgia 77.

With Fatty bringing the spirit of 80s On-U Sound, Mikey Dread and Mad Professor, and Ben Nostalgia having mixed Dele's original LP, this was always going to be something very special." 'You No Fit Touch Am', Dele Sosimi's first full-length album in almost a decade, was released by Wah Wah 45s in May 2015. It represented where Dele is today - something of an untouchable force in the music scene that he has always been such a vital part of. The album provided a musical representation of Dele’s strong socio-political opinions, as well as delivering classic song-writing that could have come straight out of 1970s Lagos.

Born in Hackney, East London, but soon to return to his parents’ native Nigeria at the age of four, Dele Sosimi was schooled and raised in Fela Anikulapo Kuti’s shadow at the height of early 70s Afrobeat. Having been chosen by Fela to join his band at somewhat of a tender age, he was still a young man when sharing
Fela’s Glastonbury stage in 1984, and became both Musical Director for both Fela’s Egypt 80 and FemiKuti’s Positive Force. After Fela’s passing in 1997, Dele went on to concentrate on his own solo career and, with diligent patience, carved out his own Afrobeat crown. In London, where he now resides, his Afrobeat Vibration all-nighters are charged with his passion, labours and his unrelenting spirit.

Barker & Baumecker take Turns from techno, bass, breaks, and experimental terrain with their second album on Ostgut Ton.

Sam Barker and Andreas Baumecker’s lives have always revolved around different kinds of music. That’s partly why their productions as Barker & Baumecker are more unpredictable, harder to pin down than what you might expect from a label borne out of a techno club. And while their music is clearly built for dancing, listening to it reveals a deep love and respect for many forms of electronic music – bonding over more experimental dance forms is what brought them together in the first place. Imagining their music at any decent club, but disrupting the flow on the floor is what brings us to their second album Turns. An amalgamation of their unique musical minds, transcending electronic music genres and styles, while further developing and refining the Barker & Baumecker sound aesthetic.

For this pre-listening playlist, to give a better impression of the lengthy album tracks, we skipped through different parts of the songs (beginning, middle and end) and edited the samples into these single sound clips, condensing the up to 13:50 min long tracks (Statik) into 2:00 to 3:00 min edits.
