The second release on Dutch, Amsterdam based, label Shimmering Moods Records comes to us from Portland, OR composer Sage Taylor. The Parallels & Rhythms EP is comprised of two serene and beautifully glitchy ambient works on side A, and two warm and summery tracks on Side B. The first 50 copies of the EP will include a bonus, limited-run CD of floating, glitched-out ambient pieces as ‘Parallelism,’ a new recording alias geared more toward experimental and atmospheric sounds. The EP will be limited to 300 hand-numbered clear and white mixed-color vinyls, and there will be no repress.

The latest @fragilex album brings new meaning to the term “labour of love”. It’s an album that’s been in the works for quite some time. The album is inspired by a long term obsession with fractals and their never ending possibilities.

The original production process on the “Curves and Calculus” album began back in 2018 and in the 7 years since its original inception it has morphed and splintered in many directions to allow all the parts of the puzzle to fall into place.

The finished article is a musical maze, brimming with all manner of corridors and pathways to explore. Pulling in inspirations from every angle of the electronic spectrum and integrating them into a mesmerising journey full of colour, serenity and warmth.

We enter and end the trip in an ambient mood but along the way there’s a nod to the psychedelic aspect that is so often associated with fractals, when we take on a trippier tone as the tracks burst into life through twists of intricate drums and flashes of glowing energy and shifts in motion. Mirroring the boundless nature and expansion of infinity.

All the shapes we experience come lined with effervescent melodies, glitchy sonic backdrops, glassy textures and a constant propulsive motion. Always kinetic, looking for the next move, like the fractal.

“Curves and Calculus” is an audio landscape that is constantly evolving. No real beginning, no real end. A symphony of infinite equations.

Different Stories, Same Worlds

WL//WH Premiere: MULTIPLEX "Al novox" (off the "Colour Kinetica" LP) [Bricolage]

Hot on the heels of the huge celebrative 10th anniversary compilation "X", Glaswegian independent label Bricolage label (@bricolage-g5) hits the ground running with an absolute titan of a release from legends of the electronic underground, Multiplex (@user-64321338).

Multiplex is the longstanding project of British electronic brothers Christian & Roland Dormon, renowned mainstays of the so-called 'second wave' of IDM scene since the late 90s, honing their craft over the years through a raft of albums and EPs on some great labels such as Piehead, Lom, Senton, Progerik and the seminal Toytronic.

Based on separate sides of the Atlantic, the brothers produce by sending music back and forward to each other from separate studios.
The “ Colour Kinetica” album has all the Multiplex hallmarks. Abrasive yet vibrant melodies, cyber basslines and elastic rhythms. They take the genre’s bleeps and bass elements and put them through their own audio grinder to create a unique brand of head-spinning electro.
