Sailing Through Silence è un progetto audio-video che racconta l’esperienza di ricerca di mio padre durante la spedizione Italiantartide del 1998, attraverso materiale video e fotografico registrato durante il viaggio. Sailing through silence è arte performativa, ma anche un occasione di denuncia e riflessione sulla questione del cambiamento climatico e della tutela dell’ambiente.

Sailing Through Silence is an audio-visual project that tells the story of my father's research experience during the 1998 Italiantartide expedition, through video and photographic material recorded during the journey. Sailing through Silence is performative art, but also an opportunity for awareness and reflection on climate change and environmental protection.

A series of solo piano recordings registered in Belém, Brazil at a cultural centre in the Praça da república run by the Universidade Federal do Pará (UFPA) downtown. I had a 1 hour window to record one evening thanks to Margaret Refkalefsky. This series of recordings took place in the moment and also was mediated by the sounds of the city. I was listening intently to the city's soundscapes while playing. My friend, musician and producer Nick Schofield, generously took these recordings and worked with them to bring out some of the rich tones that were registered simply on a Zoom H4n recorder.

Gentle drones lure the listener in, punctuated by shards of tape hiss and electronic hum. 
Synchronised voices rise and fall, synthesisers exhale, all ushered forward by the pulse of distant static. It’s the sound of a highway at night, the sound of a digital sea, the sound of time passing. 

DEEP COMPLETIONS is a self-titled 8 track album of choral and ambient music, written and recorded in Berlin between 2023 and 2025. Released in the year 2025 on Amsterdam’s Shimmering Moods Records.
