Rituals of Release was forged, not recorded. We summoned it—pulled it from the haze of two restless nights in Berlin and Madrid, late in 2023.

This is no album. It’s a reckoning. These sounds were not crafted, but unearthed—echoes buried beneath the surface, only waiting for us to dig. No rules guided our hands, only a primal pull toward chaos and freedom.

Rituals of Release is the pulse of a decaying world—a collision of flesh and machine, where desire becomes worship, and wanting is never enough. The struggle to hold on, the surrender to let go—it’s all here, in every warped note and fractured beat. It’s the sound of humanity collapsing and dancing in the ruins.

Each track offers a dangerous plunge into unknown depths. This is not a map; it’s an invitation to lose yourself. No journey here is safe, and no listener will return unchanged.

02 MR Two

Disquiet Junto 0722 asked us to create a spooky pairing of a spy and horror movie soundtrack. I had a lot of fun going back and listening to some classic spy movie music, taking notes on some of the tropes that I wanted to incorporate in my response. 

The brass was a huge stretch for me. I generally try to stay away from synthetic versions of a lot of acoustic instruments because of how impossible it is to accurately simulate their performance, so I don't have any experience with writing for horns. I found some helpful advice on various music composition threads, and I'm happy enough with the arrangement for a fun Halloween piece. 

But you know what's really scary about this piece? I spelled "exsanguination" correctly on the first try.

Wonderful Wasted World, Part 2

The text of the song is in this context: when I was 17, there were many weird ideas in my mind. I wanted to write lyrics, but notebook was not a reliable place. So I always got up, when it was very late and everything was in silence. In the moonlight, with an ink pen, I wrote on a mirror. I wrote and wiped it out, wiped it out and wrote, until the whole mirror became blue.

This is quotes from Chinese writer Xiaobo Wang’s novel, which was written in 1980s. The action is a symbol, that even under power rule and high stress, people will not stop thinking. And if people insist to think, their thoughts will remain in this world in their special ways. The Song is showing the impulse and conflict of the circumstance, and the poetry from the heart which cannot be suppressed.
