ERIK YAHNKOVF is One of the most important DJ/Producers in Mexico, and most known names of techno in latinamerica, with very solid career since 2008. Signed on many prestigious techno labels around the world like: Unrilis, Tronic, ODD recordings, Trapez, Jeton, Illusion, Natura Viva, Blufin, Gain, Crash!, Frequenza, Naked Lunch, Onh.Cet, Complexed, Noise Music, Diffuse Reality, Cmnd Ctrl, Sin Sin, Elektrax, X_erie, Codein Music, just to name a few. His releases are being played and supported by great djs like: Richie hawtin, Dubfire, Drumcomplex, Nicole Moudaber, Ilario Alicante, Dj Rush, Mauro Picotto, Lutzenkirchen, Mike Vath, Maceo Plex, Joachim Garraud, Anderson Noise, Ferhat Albayrak, Nihil young, Kerstin Eden, Amotik, Slam, A.paul, Klaudia Gawlas, Christian Smith, Dj Dextro and many more. Label head in CAPRICORN and Nebadon Músic he has been remixed by Tom Adams, Lutzenkirchen, Andy Notalez, Norbert Davenport, Max Gardner, Mike derer and more. He has been playing in many festivals and clubs, earning the respect and admiration of the people with groovy rythms and enigmatic sounds, where we can find sound’s from minimal till dark techno with great atmospheres, he usually plays his own tracks in every gig and in this way show his own music and his own inspiration to the crowd, but sometimes he surpirses us playing some fantastic underground techno making an awesome selection of music. One of his tracks called “Erik yahnkovf – Pick (original mix) was printed on DVD and released by Aktivist Records from France and an EP called "Slaughter" printed in vinyl released in Rawsery from Hungary.

ODDD1 is a DJ from Costa Rica who emphasizes mixing deep, dark, and hypnotic techno. He aims for immersive sets driven by a passion for storytelling. His performances evolve slowly, pull listeners inward, and explore the darker corners of techno. Each mix is designed to be an experience: atmospheric, entrancing, and mind-bending.

As the global scene shifts toward faster and heavier trends, ODDD1 draws inspiration from deviating from that current, seeing the need to preserve spaces where techno remains true to its roots—hypnotic, deep, and atmospheric.

One of ODDD1’s missions is to bring more visibility to darker and experimental techno in Costa Rica, where the scene is still small and many venues hesitate to explore beyond the mainstream. Through carefully curated sets, ODDD1 aims to open doors for the sounds that aren’t always given space.

UNDERGROUND STRUCTURES #3

SAMA strikes down with his fifth techno outing on Maximalist_Minimalist since the opening of the label in 2022.

The title track ‘Phoneutria’ is one of SAMA’s most personal techno tracks, created from a desire to awaken people from their hypnosis in a set and to create a highlight, rather than trying to blend in. This semi broken-beat track is by far the most requested track in SAMA’s recent sets, and has been turning heads since the summer of 2023, getting heavy early rotation from Rødhåd and Rene Wise. 

Right after being struck by the opener track’s wall of sound, the beatless ‘A Last Speck Of Light’ creates a soft, cozy space that invites the listener into a state of stillness. ‘A Last Speck Of Light’ doesn’t try to take you anywhere, but is rather a moment suspended. A fragment of time that simply is, asking nothing but presence.

The B-side of MXMN005 is reserved for the more functional tracks, without losing the intricacies of SAMA’s perfectionism. ‘Silence Is For The Elite’ is a modern track with crisp and fun jittery sounddesign, built around a heavy groove. 

The last track of the EP, ‘Tiger Mosquito’, is the most forward-pushing of the four, with a very straight groove and dark, buzzing and almost aggravating textures and atmospherics, hence the name. 

All in all, MXMN005 shows exactly how Maximalist_Minimalist got its name. Tracks ranging from extremely minimalist and intimate to thunderous and filled to the brim with details. Music that doesn’t take itself too serious, and music that absolutely, and proudly, does.  

The artwork, as always, has been painted by Ric Santesteban, showing a new colour palate for the first time in the MXMN series, accompanied by 5 eyes for the fifth and maybe most personal techno release to date for the label.
