Ancient Egypt, land of great mystery, culture and achievements..
Land of Ra...
Ra is the Egyptian word for 'sun'. As a solar deity, Ra embodied the power of the sun but was also thought to be the sun itself, envisioned as the great god riding in his barge across the heavens throughout the day and descending into the underworld at sunset.
My ode to that great civilization and the Sun  responsible for all life on this planet..

A special thank you to Pamela Illanes, (https://soundcloud.com/user-315009621), a wonderful composer that even had her own work played by a real orchestra, early on during my writing I struggled with writers block for almost 2 weeks, one night we engaged in a conversation and Pam was very helpful, she gave me the patience and strength I needed at the time, writers block really gets to me. In the family of water lilies, Nelumbo nucifera or the lotus flower is also known as the sacred lotus because it symbolizes qualities such as purity, rebirth, enlightenment, longevity, and resiliency. In muddy swamplands the lotus has thrived for more than a thousand years, producing beauty in the midst of muck. 

I hope you enjoy my lotus-inspired tribute of a powerful symbol of overcoming adversity and relentless creativity.

Set at a hypnotic 83 bpm, I’ve included a mix of sounds — a little synthpop, jazz, R&B, Latin, neoclassical, and definitely chill.

It is not about the famous astronomer, mathematician and philosopher who lived in the ancient city of Alexandria. Ipatia is one of the fictional cities in a work by Italo Calvino (‘The Invisible Cities’) published in 1972 (and translated into English in 1974). 
I composed this song in 1997 and recorded it (with Elisabetta) almost immediately (that's when I bought a Korg D8). Now I have simply remixed it after separating the tracks and improving the volume of the vocals and the equalisation of the classic guitar (it is a Yamaha CG 110CE pre-amplified, and the effects were adjusted then with the Korg). The arrangement is very sparse, the sound quality not optimal.
