Naked Island is the striking debut collaboration from Brian Pyle (Ensemble Economique) and Felicia Atkinson (Je Suis Le Petit Chevalier). Their respective unique visions fuse into one bold new deep space soundscape. Their S/T debut is two expansive tracks spread luxuriously across 35 minutes of mutant ambient techno.

His third album 50 ° is an elegant, accommodating, direct hi-fi pop album which fears neither death nor pathos. It was produced in the ‘oneartist’ studio together with Bertil Mark. The journey takes us from Pop (Happens at Night and the first single Change) through ambient soundscapes (Timenation), to early 90s shoegaze moments (Meteor and Passing by) but at its core always remains the techno ideal, without promising club functionality. For the release of 50 ° Beyer specially founded the new label PNN with Kompakt’s Gesine Schönrock. Accompanying the album, PNN publishes 4 music videos - an app for the i-pad and the fashion piece “Popnoshirt” you can find them at Popnoshop.com or Kompakt.fm. Bodo, who features on the cover of the album, used to live from the bottle recycling system in Germany but is now running a trust based shop near the PNN offices. Jens-Uwe Beyer performs as both a solo act and setting permitted, with Beritl Mark on drums and the enigmatic Isis Lace on vocals.

Paper Cloud Improvisations were recorded live in our rehearsal space, usually with one or two microphones and some pedals. Many of our songs are "written" in this way, with stream of conscience lyrics and improvised guitar accompaniment.

Turns But Sweeps

The Language of Flowers is the debut LP from Texas born artists Twigs & Yarn. It is an intimate story pieced together between continents and bedrooms, a collage of musical messages assembled from traditional instruments, found objects, lonely nights, paper cups and trembling voices. The songs range from simple improvisations to meticulously arranged soundscapes, with subtle textures and melodies held together by a drowsy ambience and fuzz that will leave you sleepy-eyed and dreaming. The album was beautifully mastered by Nick Zammuto (The Books, Zammuto). 

Recorded during a yearlong separation, the music embraces the discovery of sharing sounds from across the sea through ftp servers and email. Utilizing lo-fi recorders, homemade microphones, looping pedals and layered vocals, the songs developed slowly from the random joining of sound clips never intended for each other, creating beautiful unexpected moments.

Many of the sounds for the album were recorded by Lauren McMurray while living in Japan: radio frequencies, people talking on the streets, temple bells, and quiet vocals hummed into coffee tins in the dead of night. Her voice is ethereal and strange, and she uses it to create a texture of sounds from dreamy whispers to full choruses. The final compositions were augmented and stitched together by Stephen Orsak using guitars, electronics, field recordings and sequencers. Floating across the sea, changing forms, and taking us to an unknown place, The Language of Flowers is a soundtrack for nostalgic dreams.
