Black holes have long been some of the most fascinating deep space objects. These dead stars have collapsed in on themselves and exert such a tremendous gravitational pull that they devour entire planets, other stars, and light itself. This piece, named after the earliest discovered black hole, "Cygnus X-1", derives almost all material from the opening chord built from the gravitational mode frequencies of a black hole. The qualities of a black hole - the inexorable pull it has, disintegrating planets and stars with tremendous force - are rendered into musical form in this work.
